Fibre Extrusion Technology Limited (FET) presented its latest fibre processing technologies at the Dornbirn Global Fiber Congress in Austria in September 2026. Dr Jonny Hunter delivered a presentation titled “Spinning a Good Yarn,” highlighting developments in fibre production, sustainability and specialised spinning systems.
The congress brought together more than 400 attendees and over 100 expert speakers from industry and academia. Participants included Barmag, Sembis, Fraunhofer, CETI in France, Aachen in Germany and Fibernamics in Portugal.
FET Highlights Advanced Spinning Technologies
FET develops and manufactures customised fibre processing equipment for different industrial applications. Its established technologies include melt spinning for multifilament, monofilament and nonwoven production.
The company also highlighted developments in three specialised areas:
- Meltblown systems: For non-continuous nonwoven fibres.
- Spunbond equipment: For continuous nonwoven production.
- Wet spinning systems: For applications where melt spinning is not suitable.
Gel Spinning System Receives Innovation Award
FET also presented its FET-500 Series gel spinning system. The technology enables rapid, small-scale gel spinning of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) without the toxic solvents typically associated with the process.
The system received the Techtextil Innovation Award 2026 in the New Production Technology category.
FET also highlighted its focus on reducing pollution and material waste in research and production. Its Fibre Development Centre allows customers to trial their products under controlled development conditions. The company has processed more than 130 different polymer types in multifilament, monofilament and nonwoven formats.
FET will next exhibit at COMPAMED 2026 in Düsseldorf, Germany, from 16 to 19 November. Visitors can find the company in Hall 08B, Stand 8BJ109.
