The 65th edition of Filo, the International Yarns and Fibres Exhibition, has closed in Milan with positive results, reaffirming its role as a key international platform for high-quality yarns and fibres.

The main innovative feature of Filo65 was the strengthened synergy with Lineapelle. The closer collaboration with the leather goods exhibition proved highly effective, with a large number of visitors attending both events and gaining a broader overview of the textile industry’s proposals for the upcoming season.

Visitor flow remained steady across the two days of Filo65, despite logistical challenges linked to the concurrent Milano-Cortina Olympic Winter Games. Exhibitors presented high-quality collections, which were well received by national and international buyers for their focus on style, innovation and research.

Institutional Support and Policy Focus

On the second day, Filo65 received a visit from Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, Minister of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE), who underlined the strategic role of the textile industry in Italy’s economy and the need to move away from fast fashion practices.

The Minister also highlighted the government’s work on extended producer responsibility, noting that MASE has prepared a draft regulation for the textile supply chain, currently in the process of adoption, which will apply to post-consumer urban waste and involve companies directly in the end-of-life stage of products.

Specific measures have also been adopted for eco-design, sustainability and circularity in the sector, with ongoing efforts to promote innovation and the use of low-impact fibres, reducing reliance on unsustainable raw materials. According to the Minister, Italy is taking a leading role in the global transition of the textile and fashion sectors, with the direct involvement of companies throughout the production cycle seen as key to protecting compliant businesses and countering unfair competition.

International Buyers and Institutional Collaboration

Since its inception, Filo has pursued a strong internationalisation strategy. The exhibition continues to work closely with ITA – Italian Trade Agency and the Piedmont Region to support the selective growth of foreign buyers and exhibitors.

Through ITA – Agency, a delegation of 25 buyers attended Filo65, mainly from France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Hungary and Finland, as well as from fast-growing Asian markets such as India and China. ITA – Agency also renewed its sponsorship of the Made in Filo project for this edition.

In parallel, ten buyers from Finland, France, Japan, Ireland, Portugal and the United Kingdom took part in the Buyers Days organised by Ceipiemonte, as part of the Piedmont Region’s Integrated Textile Supply Chain Project (PIF) “Textiles”, funded under PR FESR 2021–2027.

Focus on Innovation, Sustainability and Supply Chain Synergies

Paolo Monfermoso, Head of Filo, confirmed that despite a challenging geopolitical and logistical context, the 65th edition closed with positive results, supported by the professionalism of visitors and the high quality of exhibitors’ collections. The reinforced synergy with Lineapelle contributed to offering visitors a broader view of the textile supply chain’s capacity for innovation, creativity and sustainability.

Strong interest was recorded in the third edition of Made in Filo, the collection of fabrics entirely designed and produced by Filo using yarns supplied by exhibitors and processed with advanced manufacturing techniques.

On sustainability, Filo continued its cooperation with C.L.A.S.S. by Giusy Bettoni, presenting a vision of responsible innovation through concrete experiences and case histories, including the InsideOut by C.L.A.S.S. project, which highlights less visible parameters in the textile and clothing industry such as ethics, traceability, transparency, health and circularity.

Monfermoso also highlighted the importance of supply chain collaboration, a key theme addressed during both the Opening Ceremony and the Dialoghi di Confronto sessions held over the two days of the exhibition.

Looking Ahead to Filo 66

After two days of intense activity, Filo organisers thanked exhibitors, buyers, institutional partners and collaborators for contributing to the success of Filo65.

The 66th edition of Filo is scheduled to take place on 15–16 September 2026 at Fiera Milano Rho.
