Gartex Texprocess India will expand into Eastern India with its first Kolkata edition from 22–24 January 2027 at Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan, Kolkata. Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt Ltd and MEX Exhibitions Pvt Ltd will organise the exhibition.
The new edition will extend the exhibition’s presence beyond Delhi and Mumbai, bringing its textile and garment manufacturing platform to Eastern India. The expansion comes as manufacturers increasingly look towards modern machinery, technology adoption, capacity expansion and wider market access.
West Bengal has a strong textile heritage, supported by its handloom, jute, hosiery and garment manufacturing industries. Clusters such as Fulia, Santipur, Bishnupur and Murshidabad are known for their weaving and craft traditions. Kolkata is also an important centre for ethnic wear, kidswear, zari and embroidery.
The region’s manufacturing sector is exploring opportunities in modernisation and production growth. The jute industry is also expanding into diversified applications, including bags, home textiles, geotextiles and composites. These developments create opportunities for machinery suppliers and technology providers.
Gartex Texprocess India Kolkata will connect regional manufacturers with Indian and international technology providers. Exhibitors will have an opportunity to reach new buyers, while local companies can showcase their capabilities to a wider market.
The exhibition is expected to feature circular knitting, hosiery and knitwear machinery, along with spinning, sewing, embroidery and garment-making technologies. Digital textile printing, dyeing, finishing, weaving, powerloom and jute processing solutions will also form part of the platform. Fabrics, trims, accessories and allied products will add to the exhibition’s offerings.
Kolkata’s location also offers access to neighbouring states, including Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand, as well as the North-East. Its connectivity with Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan further supports opportunities for regional trade and sourcing.
Commenting on the expansion, Raj Manek, Executive Director and Board Member of Messe Frankfurt Asia Holdings Ltd, said: “Our expansion to Kolkata is a natural next step in that journey.”
Gaurav Juneja, Director of MEX Exhibitions Pvt Ltd, said the Kolkata edition would provide manufacturers and buyers with a platform to explore and source technologies and solutions in one place.
With the addition of Kolkata, Gartex Texprocess India will have three annual editions across North, West and East India, strengthening its reach across the country’s textile and garment manufacturing industry.
