Albuquerque, New Mexico: Golden Long John has partnered with Green Theme Technologies (GTT), the company behind the waterless and PFAS-free EMPEL® textile finishing platform, to advance the next wave of more effective and environmentally friendly fabric dyeing and finishing techniques.

Each year, trillions of gallons of wastewater are produced by the textile manufacturing sector. Chemical dyes and water repellency are rinsed onto textiles during traditional textile dyeing and finishing. Toxic post-production water is subsequently released into rivers and seas.

In their plants in Vietnam, Golden Long John, a significant textile supplier to the worldwide footwear industry, installed GTT’s EMPEL® finishing platform last year. The EMPEL® high performance water repellent finish and Golden Long John’s direct dye process, two industry-leading technologies, have been combined as a result of their collaboration.

“This is a significant advancement for the fashion and textile industries, and we firmly believe that Cleaner IS Better,” stated Martin Flora, President of GTT Business Development. Golden Long John applies dye chemistry directly onto textiles, much like GTT does with its EMPEL® application. Our goal for the future is to perform better while producing significantly less pollution.

On November 20 and 21, GTT and Golden Long John will present their inventions at the Functional Fabric Fair in Portland, Oregon. Both businesses are currently seeing steady growth thanks to corporations like Nike, which require improved and consistent performance in order to meet their environmental objectives.
