The Good Cashmere Standard®, which was founded in 2020 by the Aid by Trade Foundation, has always been dedicated to transparent fiber traceability in the textile supply chain and sustainable cashmere production. It focuses on the well-being of more than four million cashmere goats and the working conditions at more than 9,000 farms, making it one of the world’s top standards for sustainable cashmere production. GCS-verified cashmere is used by more than 50 global brands, such as Galeries Lafayette, H&M, J. Crew, and The White Company.

Aimed at representatives of textile companies, fashion brands, cashmere producers, standards organisations, and non-governmental organisations as well as members of the textile supply chain and other stakeholders, the two-day conference will offer valuable insight into current developments and trends in the cashmere industry. It will also present an opportunity to establish new contacts and gain deeper knowledge about sustainable cashmere production.

The Aid by Trade Foundation’s founder, Prof. Dr. Michael Otto, will launch the conference on Tuesday, March 25, and Wednesday, March 26, 2025, in Hamburg’s historic Speicherstadt warehouse neighborhood. The conference website has more details on the event program and the conference. There, you may also purchase tickets directly.

About The Good Cashmere Standard

Through The Good Cashmere Standard® (GCS), the Aid by Trade Foundation has been setting the benchmark for the production of sustainable cashmere from Inner Mongolia since 2020. GCS criteria cover the most important aspects of cashmere production. Aiming to protect nature and to improve the welfare of cashmere goats and the living conditions of goat herders, the standard was developed with input from goat herders as well as experts in animal welfare and the industry. There are now some 9,100 farms with a total of 4.3 million goats participating in The Good Cashmere Standard®. Around 2,200 tonnes of cashmere wool are currently verified by The Good Cashmere Standard®. More than 50 international textile companies and household-name brands—including Bestseller, J.Crew, Galeries Lafayette, H&M, s.Oliver, and The White Company—use the verified cashmere wool for their products.
