AMSTERDAM / METTUPALAYAM – May 2025:
The Good Fashion Fund (GFF), managed by Dutch impact investment firm FOUNT, has invested USD 1.75 million in Sharadha Terry Products Pvt. Ltd. (STPPL), a prominent Indian home textile manufacturer known globally for its MicroCotton® brand. The funding supports the establishment of Sri Gugan Mills, a new state-of-the-art bath and area rugs facility in Mettupalayam, Tamil Nadu.
The unit will manufacture up to 4 million square meters of bath rugs annually using dope-dyed polyester, cotton, and recycled fibers—minimizing environmental impact through reduced water use and zero hazardous chemicals. A highly efficient effluent treatment plant (ETP) is projected to recover up to 98% of wastewater. The unit will also generate over 200 local jobs, promoting gender-inclusive employment.
Sharadha Terry’s legacy in sustainable manufacturing makes this partnership a natural fit. The company already sources 100% of its energy from renewable sources—5.1 MW wind and 10.1 MW solar—and operates under top certifications including Made in Green, GRS, and FSC.
Vikram Krishna, MD of STPPL, emphasized, “This collaboration aligns with our mission to expand responsibly while empowering communities and preserving the environment.”
Bob Assenberg of GFF added, “Sharadha Terry exemplifies the kind of innovation and sustainability we aim to foster in the textile value chain.”
This marks the final investment from the current Good Fashion Fund, with plans for a successor fund (GFF 2.0) already underway.
