Hanover Prepares to Welcome Global Textile Industry for ITMA 2027
Hanover, Germany is gearing up to host ITMA 2027, the world’s largest exhibition for textile and garment technology, from 16 to 22 September 2027. Spanning 200,000 square metres across 13 halls at Messegelände Hannover, the event marks a significant return—ITMA was last held in Hanover in 1991.
The successful bid was jointly led by Deutsche Messe, the city of Hanover, and the office of the Lord Mayor. Expressing his excitement, Mayor Belit Onay stated, “We are thrilled to welcome ITMA back. Hanover is a dynamic trade fair city with a mix of historical charm and modern infrastructure, ideal for hosting global events.”
Ample Accommodation Options
Hanover is well-equipped to host large-scale exhibitions, offering over 18,000 hotel beds within the city and an additional 54,000 in surrounding areas. Furthermore, around 4,000 private accommodations and a campground near the venue cater to varying visitor preferences. In 2026, another 700 rooms will be added in the city centre to enhance capacity.
Dr Jochen Koeckler, Chairman of Deutsche Messe, highlighted that most accommodations are within 30 to 90 minutes of the venue, ensuring convenience for attendees.
To streamline the booking process, bnetwork, an experienced travel agency with a history of supporting past ITMA events, has been appointed as the official accommodation partner. A dedicated booking website is being developed. In the meantime, enquiries can be directed to itmahotels@bnetwork.com.
Excellent Connectivity
While not a major international gateway, Hanover boasts strong transport connectivity, including high-speed train services, a well-connected airport, two modern light rail stations, and direct access to motorways with 39,000 parking spaces.
Alex Zucchi, President of CEMATEX (owner of ITMA), remarked, “Hanover provides a solid infrastructure that meets the scale and demands of ITMA. Our teams are working closely to ensure a smooth and memorable experience for all.”
More details about the show and exhibitor applications will be available on the ITMA 2027 official website launching this July, ahead of stand space applications in September.
The previous edition, held in Milan in 2023, featured 1,709 exhibitors from 47 countries and welcomed over 111,000 visitors from 143 nations, reaffirming ITMA’s position as the textile industry’s leading global platform.
