American designer Barbara Barry is commemorating eight of her most recognizable pieces to honor 30 years of working with furniture company HBF.

Since 1994, when she started working with HBF, Barry has produced over 50 pieces for the firm, including the Brentwood chair, which was inspired by the 1930s.

To commemorate the 30-year milestone, HBF has showcased eight seating and table designs in their flagship showroom in New York City, including the Brentwood.

It complements the metal-legged seating Ski collection, the Charlotte Perriand-inspired Charlotte Lounge Chair, the Salon Seating Collection for lobbies, and the softly contouring Scoop Lounge Chair.

The circular Carousel Coffee Table, the organically curved Egg Table Collection, and the steel-and-glass Double Take table collection—all with modern finishes—also play a significant role in the celebration of Barry’s work.

Barry is renowned for his ability to blend several traditions and for his subtle design that combines aspects of Southern Californian architecture and culture.

Casey Baxter, VP and General Manager of HBF, stated, “As a designer and businesswoman, her career has been dedicated to shaping the American aesthetic to create calming and welcoming interiors.”

“While each collection has a distinctive look, one constant thread throughout is simplicity – something Barry strives for in everything she creates.”

Barry and HBF will also introduce the new KUBI Lounge Collection of modular tables and chairs this year.

A lounge chair, two-seater couch, ottoman, bench, coffee table, modular tables, and side tables are all part of KUBI, which is characterized by angular timber frames contrasted with rounded backrests and upholstered seats.

“We’re especially proud of the KUBI wooden modular lounge collection – a rarity in the industry,” Baxter stated.

“In crafting KUBI, I explored the idea of less is more and how pure geometry can be supportive, working closely with HBF to get just the right sit and proportions,” Barry stated.

“It speaks intuitively, inviting individuals to experience its allure without the need for explanation.”
