Indian Heritage Pavilion at HGH India 2025 Showcases India’s Rich Craft Legacy
Mumbai, July 1, 2025 — The 17th edition of HGH India opened its doors today in Mumbai, bringing back the much-celebrated Indian Heritage Pavilion, a platform dedicated to honoring India’s unparalleled craftsmanship and artistic legacy. Running until July 4th, the event places a strong emphasis on preserving and promoting the country’s centuries-old craft traditions.
The Indian Heritage Pavilion has been an integral part of HGH India for the past 10 years, connecting talented artisans with key players in the design and retail industries, including architects, interior designers, retailers, and institutional buyers. This year’s Pavilion continued that mission by highlighting a stunning collection of handcrafted pieces across various mediums—metal, wood, terracotta, ceramics, glass, bamboo, coir, jute, textiles, and embroidery—crafted using sustainable and eco-friendly materials.
The Pavilion featured some of India’s most celebrated artisans, including:
-
Smt. Shyamalata Gahlot from Rajasthan, renowned for her Koftgiri—a delicate art of gold and silver inlay on furniture, lamps, and accessories.
-
Shri Ram Soni from Alwar, a decorated Sanjhi paper-cutting artist and recipient of several prestigious awards including the National Award, Shilp Shiromani, UNESCO Award, and Surat Samman.
-
Smt. Sutapa Bhunia from Mumbai, who presented her exquisite hand embroidery work blending tradition with modern aesthetics.
-
Shri Mohammad Matloob from Delhi, honored with the Shilp Guru Award, showcased his masterful wood carving expertise.
Beyond being a visual treat, the Indian Heritage Pavilion served as a vital platform for nurturing business opportunities, collaborations, and long-term sourcing relationships, bringing India’s rich heritage to the forefront of contemporary design.
