India’s Textile & Apparel Exports See Continued Growth in April 2025
New Delhi, 16th May 2025: According to preliminary data from the Ministry of Commerce, India’s Textile & Apparel (T&A) exports have maintained their upward trend, showing a 7.45% increase in April 2025 compared to April 2024. The apparel sector was the key contributor to this growth, achieving an impressive 14.43% year-on-year rise.
Commenting on the positive momentum, Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI), Shri Rakesh Mehra, noted that the overall T&A sector recorded a 6.3% growth in FY 2024–25 over the previous financial year. He attributed much of the recent surge in apparel exports to increased shipments to the United States. This boost followed the U.S. administration’s implementation of reciprocal tariff benefits, which enhanced competitiveness for Indian products.
Shri Mehra also applauded the recently concluded India–UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA), expressing confidence that it would significantly improve market access for Indian textiles and garments in the UK. He anticipates that this development will drive further export growth in the coming months.
The Confederation has also shared a detailed analysis of T&A exports and imports for April 2025, underscoring the sector’s consistent performance.
