Autumn Edition in Shanghai to focus on sustainability, smart textiles, climate-adaptive fabrics, and emerging apparel sectors

Shanghai, 14 May 2026: Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition will take place from 25 – 27 August 2026 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center, with organisers highlighting new developments in pet textiles, sustainability, functional fabrics, and digital transformation across the apparel textile industry.

The upcoming edition follows the 2025 event, where more than 3,700 exhibitors from 26 countries and regions participated and over 100,000 buyers from 123 countries and regions attended the fair.

According to organisers, the 2026 edition will focus on four key themes shaping the global textile sector: Fashion Forward, Performance Textiles, Sustainability, and Textile Future.

Wilmet Shea said buyers are increasingly seeking innovation, long-term partnerships, and functional solutions alongside sourcing opportunities. The event will expand its product showcase to address sustainability priorities, technical performance, and emerging product categories.

Under the Fashion Forward theme, curated fabric displays and the Intertextile Directions Trend Forum will present seasonal trend insights for buyers and designers. Performance Textiles will highlight fabrics developed for sportswear, outdoor apparel, and lifestyle applications, focusing on comfort, durability, and technical functionality.

The Sustainability segment will feature environmentally focused materials and textile solutions aligned with international standards through the Econogy Hub. Textile Future will showcase smart textiles, AI-based design tools, and advanced manufacturing technologies linked to the digital transformation of the apparel supply chain.

Pet Boutique to Return in Autumn Edition

One of the key additions to the 2026 edition is the expansion of the Pet Boutique showcase, which debuted during the Spring Edition earlier this year. The section is intended to support sourcing for pet clothing, accessories, and related textile applications.

Organisers noted that the global pet textile market is forecast to grow annually by 5.6% through 2031, with Asia-Pacific expected to record the highest growth.

Fred Wang, who participated in the Spring Edition, said the showcase aims to improve industry understanding of natural textile materials used in the pet sector and encourage wider adoption within the industry.

Functional Lab to Highlight Climate-Adaptive Textiles

The Functional Lab section will continue with an integrated format combining exhibition booths, display areas, and seminar sessions designed to support interaction between exhibitors and sourcing professionals.

At the centre of the area, The CUBE display section will feature functional fabrics and accessories. A new Product Presentation Series will also be introduced, enabling brands to present textile innovations directly to industry attendees.

This year’s Functional Lab will also focus on climate-adaptive textiles and silver-age applications. Organisers said advancements in temperature and humidity regulation are contributing to the development of fabrics designed for comfort across varying environmental conditions. Textiles developed for ageing demographics will focus on lightweight construction, comfort, ease of care, and practicality.

Zoe Zhang said discussions during the previous Autumn Edition led to collaboration opportunities involving nanomaterial applications and functional textile development.

Specialised Zones to Cover Apparel Supply Chain

The event will also feature several dedicated zones, including:

  • Accessories Vision
  • Beyond Denim
  • Essential Suits & Shirts
  • Innovation & Digital Solutions Zone
  • Premium Wool Zone
  • SalonEurope
  • Verve for Design

Organisers stated that the specialised zones are intended to provide sourcing opportunities covering fashion trends, functional innovation, sustainability, and digital technologies.

The fair is co-organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT, and the China Textile Information Center.

The event will take place alongside Yarn Expo Autumn, CHIC, and PH Value at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai.
