IVO Textiles, a family-owned British textile manufacturer with more than six decades of expertise in premium printed fabrics, has invested in the Kornit Presto MAX S roll-to-roll digital textile printing system to combine the quality of traditional screen printing with the speed, flexibility and efficiency of digital production.
The investment enables the company to reproduce the appearance and craftsmanship associated with conventional screen printing while expanding its colour capabilities, increasing production efficiency and supporting a wider range of premium interior textile applications.
Blending heritage with innovation
Founded in the early 1960s, IVO Textiles established itself during London’s fashion boom by producing fabrics for renowned designers including Celia Birtwell, Ossie Clark, and Zandra Rhodes, as well as the iconic fashion retailer Biba.
Over the years, the company successfully diversified into premium furnishing fabrics, wallpapers and interior décor while maintaining its commitment to craftsmanship and quality.
Choosing the right digital platform
As part of its equipment upgrade, IVO Textiles evaluated several leading digital textile printing technologies using identical production files and fabric samples to determine which system most closely replicated traditional screen-printing quality.
According to the company, the Kornit Presto MAX S delivered the closest match while demonstrating superior colour accuracy, durability and fastness. Additional demonstrations at Kornit’s Customer Experience Center in Düsseldorf further confirmed the platform’s production capabilities.
Michael Haas, CEO of IVO Textiles, said the company was looking beyond a conventional digital printer.
“IVO Textiles has always built its reputation on craftsmanship, quality and innovation. When we evaluated the market, we weren’t simply looking for another digital printer. We were looking for a platform capable of matching the quality of traditional screen printing while giving us the flexibility to meet today’s customer expectations. Kornit delivered exactly that and gives us the confidence to continue growing our business.”
Faster production and greater flexibility
The Kornit Presto MAX S has already improved production efficiency by significantly reducing turnaround times.
According to IVO Textiles, a typical 200-metre print order that previously required approximately one and a half days, including separate finishing processes, can now be completed in less than two hours, with printing and curing performed in a single workflow.
The company also highlighted the printer’s expanded colour gamut, compatibility with a broader range of fabrics, intelligent self-centering technology, and additional creative capabilities enabled through white ink and XDi functionality.
“The colour gamut and the range of fabrics we can now print on are tremendous advantages for our business. But the biggest benefit is the speed. We’re now able to respond to our customers much faster while maintaining the quality they’ve always expected from IVO Textiles,” Haas added.
Supporting future growth
IVO Textiles also acknowledged Kornit’s engineering and customer support teams for assisting throughout the installation and commissioning process.
Guy Yaniv, President of Kornit Digital Europe, said the partnership demonstrates that traditional textile manufacturers can successfully combine heritage craftsmanship with modern digital production technologies.
With the Kornit Presto MAX S now fully operational, IVO Textiles plans to expand its premium interior textile offerings while continuing to deliver the craftsmanship and quality that have defined the company for more than 60 years.
