JD Institute of Fashion Technology has launched House of JD, a new e-commerce marketplace for design talent.
The platform connects designers with consumers. It features work across fashion, interiors, textiles, art, objects and lifestyle.
House of JD aims to help young designers move beyond portfolios. It gives them a place to showcase and sell their work.
The platform will feature students, alumni, aspiring designers and emerging creative talent. It will also include established labels and premium brands.
Designers can use the platform to present their work to customers. They can also learn about product presentation, sales and brand building.
JD Institute of Fashion Technology was established in 1988. It now has more than 38 learning centres and over 45,000 design graduates.
Its alumni work in many creative fields. These include fashion, interiors, jewellery and styling. They also work with brands and design studios in India and overseas.
House of JD will use a curated selection process. Designers and products will be reviewed before they appear on the platform.
An advisory board will also review collections. The aim is to keep the marketplace focused and selective.
The platform will have five categories. These are hoJD Student, hoJD Next, hoJD Signature, hoJD Collective and hoJD Legendary.
The categories bring together students, alumni, faculty and industry professionals. They also connect this design network with consumers.
Rinesh Dalal, Director, JD Institute of Fashion Technology, said House of JD will give designers a space to reach a wider audience.
He said the platform will help the next generation of creative entrepreneurs develop and commercialise their work.
House of JD expands the role of JD Education Trust. The initiative links design education with the consumer market.
The new marketplace gives emerging designers a new route to showcase, sell and build their brands.
