S.B.T. Apparels Pvt. Ltd., Palladam, Tamil Nadu, has signed an MoU with TEXPROCIL to produce 50,000 garments and made-ups using Kasturi Cotton.
The initiative is promoted by the Ministry of Textiles with industry bodies, including TEXPROCIL. It aims to build a strong identity for Indian cotton through defined quality standards and traceability.
Kasturi Cotton Bharat Focuses on Consistent Quality
Kasturi Cotton follows a documented quality protocol. This helps reduce variations in key fibre properties.
For textile manufacturers, consistent cotton can support stable spinning performance. It can also help produce more even yarn and improve knitting and dyeing results.
The initiative also focuses on cleaner cotton. Careful picking, ginning and baling can reduce contamination. This is important for garments and made-ups, where visible defects can lead to higher rejection rates.
QR Code Enables Cotton Traceability
Traceability is another key feature of Kasturi Cotton Bharat. Each garment carries a TEXPROCIL-issued QR code on its tag.
Buyers and consumers can scan the code to verify the cotton’s journey from farm to finished product. This provides greater visibility across the textile supply chain.
S.B.T. Apparels to Use Kasturi Cotton
S.B.T. Apparels operates as an integrated textile manufacturer. Its production covers yarn, knitted garments and made-ups.
The company said this integrated model allows it to manage the benefits of Kasturi Cotton across different stages of production. The planned production of 50,000 pieces will cover garments and made-ups.
The initiative also supports a premium positioning for Indian cotton. It connects fibre quality, traceability and product performance with the broader Indian cotton value chain.
“Quality begins with the raw material, and Kasturi Cotton gives us a verifiable, high-quality fibre and gives our customers confidence in every piece they receive.”
