Lalique has unveiled a new collection of crystal décor inspired by butterflies and the element of air.
The luxury French maison’s new Papillons collection brings butterflies to life through sculpted crystal designs. The collection includes decorative vases, small bowls and a re-issued perfume flacon.
The Papillons vase features multiple butterflies across its surface. Their wings combine satin-finished and polished crystal. This creates a striking play of light and highlights Lalique’s signature craftsmanship.
The vase is available in clear and pink luster finishes. A larger version comes in clear or gold-stamped crystal. Each piece goes through several finishing stages, including sandblasting, satin-finishing and polishing.
The collection also includes small flat bowls. These pieces are made using pressed crystal. The backs are satin-finished, while the interiors are polished to enhance their shine.
A Tribute to Lalique’s Perfume Heritage
Lalique has also re-issued its Butterfly flacon, first introduced as a limited edition in 2003.
The flacon features floral petal details topped with two butterflies. A gold-stamped finish covers both the bottle and its stopper, adding a refined decorative touch.
Papillons forms part of Lalique’s ongoing exploration of the four elements. This collection represents air, with butterflies symbolizing the movement and lightness of the wind.
Teddy Air Adds a Playful Touch
Lalique has also introduced Teddy Air, a neo-pop crystal teddy bear inspired by an inflatable balloon.
The sculpture is available in two sizes and three finishes: clear, pink luster and blue luster. The luster versions feature an iridescent surface that creates a subtle metallic effect.
Teddy Air is shaped using an injection technique. It is then carefully finished in Lalique’s cold-glass workshop. Sandblasting and polishing give the sculpture a soft, velvety texture.
The underside is fully polished to allow light to pass through the crystal. This enhances the sculpture’s brilliance and strengthens its balloon-like appearance.
With Papillons and Teddy Air, Lalique combines its heritage of crystal craftsmanship with playful, nature-inspired design.
