The LYCRA Company Showcases Bio-Derived LYCRA EcoMade Fiber at Kingpins Amsterdam.

The LYCRA Company, a global leader in sustainable fiber and technology solutions for the apparel industry, is proud to showcase its bio-derived LYCRA EcoMade fiber at Kingpins Amsterdam. This cutting-edge fiber, developed with QIRA technology, is made from annually renewable dent corn from Iowa, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainability while maintaining the high-performance standards for which LYCRA fibers are known.

At its stand in Blue Area 11, The LYCRA Company is displaying denim samples featuring seed quantities of its renewable elastane, offering visitors a glimpse of the future of sustainable fashion. In addition, the company is offering an immersive VR experience that takes visitors through the journey of the product—from farm to fiber.

Set to launch commercially later this year, LYCRA EcoMade fiber is composed of 70% renewable content, providing a sustainable alternative to conventional fibers without compromising on performance. This innovative fiber can reduce the carbon footprint of LYCRA by up to 44%, offering the same high-quality characteristics as the original LYCRA fiber. Importantly, LYCRA EcoMade is a one-to-one replacement for existing LYCRA products, requiring no changes to fabrics, processes, or garment patterns.

“We are excited to introduce LYCRA EcoMade fiber to the denim industry at Kingpins Amsterdam. As our customers and their consumers increasingly seek products that align with sustainability values, this fiber offers a powerful solution that does not compromise on quality or performance,” said Arnaud Ruffin, Vice President of Brands and Retail at The LYCRA Company.

In addition to its display of LYCRA EcoMade fiber, The LYCRA Company is collaborating with Diamond Denim (part of Pakistan’s Sapphire Group) to showcase the “7 Styles for 7 Days” project. This exhibit highlights how stretch denim made with LYCRA EcoMade fiber can offer lasting comfort, fit, and shape, while minimizing environmental impact. The collaboration accelerates both companies’ efforts towards decarbonization, offering denim solutions that contribute to a sustainable future.

ORTA, a Turkish denim manufacturer, will also showcase denim samples made with LYCRA EcoMade fiber and regenerative cotton at their stand. Sebla Onder, ORTA’s Marketing and Sustainability Manager, expressed enthusiasm over the market’s positive response to their 2024 capsule collection, noting the growing momentum for sustainable fabric solutions in the industry. “We’re excited about the future, especially with our premium brand partner, Citizens of Humanity Group, sourcing this sustainable fabric for their AGOLDE brand. We can’t wait to see how consumers react to these collections,” Onder said.

The LYCRA FitSense™ denim technology, which debuted at Kingpins Amsterdam last year, is also being showcased again. This patented solution provides a customized fit by incorporating discreet, targeted shaping zones into the fabric, allowing designers to create garments with tailored support and lift. This technology was recently highlighted in SPANX’s launch of SPANXsculpt ReDefine denim, the world’s first commercial program using this advanced fit solution.

For the fourth consecutive year, LYCRA brand has partnered with the House of Denim Foundation and Jean School students to present “Stretch Yourself #4: Denim of the Future, Designed by Gen Z.” The exhibition features innovative denim garments designed by student designers using fabrics powered by The LYCRA Company’s sustainable technologies, including COOLMAX EcoMade fiber.
