Macy’s has unveiled the list of 66 stores that will close as part of a larger plan to close 150 underperforming locations over the next three years. The announcement, made for the first time since the company revealed its store shutdowns earlier in 2024, focuses on locations that will no longer operate.

Among the closures, 9 Macy’s Furniture stores will shut down, with 6 of them relocating to nearby full-line Macy’s stores in areas like Hillsdale, Calif., Ft. Lauderdale, Pembroke, South Dade and Altamonte, Fla., and Gwinnett, Ga. Additionally, the company has already closed its Streets at Southglenn Furniture store in Colorado.

The closure list also includes 5 Macy’s Backstage off-price stores across New Jersey and New York, along with 3 small-format Macy’s stores in Texas: Southlake Town Square, West Bend, and Highlands of Flower Mound.

Macy’s CEO Tony Spring stated, “Closing any store is never easy, but as part of our Bold New Chapter strategy, we are closing underproductive Macy’s stores to focus our resources and invest in our go-forward stores, which are already receiving positive responses from customers.”

The company aims to operate 350 Macy’s locations by the end of fiscal 2026.
