Mallcom India Limited, a leading Indian manufacturer of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), has announced an investment of over ₹100 crore in its new manufacturing facility at Sanand, Gujarat, expanding its production capabilities and strengthening domestic manufacturing under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
The Sanand plant, now operational, is the company’s 17th manufacturing facility and is expected to play a key role in expanding its PPE portfolio while supporting employment generation and import substitution.
New Facility to Boost Manufacturing Capacity
The Sanand unit currently employs more than 200 people, including around 50 direct and over 160 indirect employees. Mallcom plans to increase the workforce to more than 300 by next year.
The facility manufactures a wide range of industrial safety products and houses:
- NBR glove dipping lines
- PU glove dipping lines
- Injection moulding machines
- Glove printing lines
- Safety helmet production
- Bump cap manufacturing
The company has also commissioned a new NBR dipping line featuring online printing and stripping technology while localising the production of Protech PU gloves, which were previously imported.
Focus on Sustainable Manufacturing
Mallcom has integrated several sustainability initiatives into the Sanand facility, including:
- Biomass pellet-based cleaner energy generation
- Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) water management system
- SEDEX-audited ethical manufacturing practices
- Energy-efficient machinery
- Waste management systems
- Safe workplace practices
The company’s vertically integrated operations support stringent quality control while ensuring compliance with international safety standards, including:
- EN
- CE
- ANSI
- IS certifications
Supporting Import Substitution
Mallcom has also established India’s first Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) unit for Protech PU Gloves at the Sanand facility.
The new unit aims to reduce India’s dependence on imported PU gloves, a product category traditionally dominated by imports from China and other Asian countries, while strengthening domestic PPE manufacturing.
