HIGH POINTJason Phillips will be leading a furniture and décor firm with a four-decade history of success when he begins his first calendar year as CEO of Phillips Collection in January.

Jason Phillips took over as CEO of the furniture and décor company on December 1st, succeeding his father, Mark Phillips, who is moving into the chairman position.

With his father, Mark Phillips, at the helm, Phillips, who joined the family firm in 2005, described his on-the-job training as more of a “lifelong apprenticeship.”

“I’ve learned the ropes over the years by watching him balance business acumen with creative vision — often from a front-row seat at the dinner table or sourcing trips halfway around the world,” Phillips commented. Everything from the value of remembering everyone’s name to how to find beauty in unexpected places is something he has taught me. Together with perhaps a few well-timed lectures, let’s just say that “creative osmosis” has helped me absorb a lot. Every choice I make now is based on those years of practical experience learning from one of the greatest.

According to Mark Phillips, his son has a “incredible mix of creativity and business acumen.” Jason’s design abilities enhance his leadership comprehension of the significance of both vision and execution.

Mark remarked, “Jason listens intently, appreciates team input, and knows how to make ideas a reality.” “He is well-suited to lead Phillips Collection right now because of his commitment to sustainability and inventiveness.”

Development of future products

One of the first businesses in the home furnishings sector to use storytelling as a primary product pitch for consumers looking for goods that deviate from the conventional was Phillips Collection, with the phrase “every piece a conversation.” Over the past 40 years, a devoted customer base has been established by the varied product offering and ensuing marketing strategy, which is supported by both father and son.

Jason declared, “I’ll be in charge of our team and actively participate in directing product development.” “I’m thrilled to lead our design vision and work closely with our teams to make sure that every new piece embodies our core principles of bold innovation, sustainability, and craftsmanship. This strategy enables us to respect our heritage while adjusting to our clients’ changing needs.

New product categories, such as the recently released holiday collection, are part of the company’s expansion objectives. Additionally, when it comes to furniture and décor launches in 2025, the idea of the “whole home” will be paramount.

According to Mark, Phillips Collection is still dedicated to the principles that have always characterized us: creativity, sustainability, and a dash of surprise—no stale merchandise. “With this change, we’re starting a new and exciting chapter where we’re laying the groundwork to keep flying.”

In addition to the storytelling focus that has steered the company’s marketing endeavors thus far, 2025’s agenda includes trend forecasting, sustainability, and transparency. Jason clarified that operations will incorporate cutting-edge technology and insights from customer data.

“Today’s consumers want more than just a product,” he stated; “they want pieces that make a statement, a sustainable option, and a story.” “Our ideals are perfectly aligned with the growing desire for eco-friendly solutions, distinctive design, and transparency. We are staying ahead of trends and producing innovative, well-considered designs that connect by using AI and technology to help us ideate at previously unheard-of speeds.

Considering the future and life lessons

Whether it’s through social media, immersive online platforms, or virtual showrooms, father and son understand that businesses are now expected to meet their customers where and how they shop while “staying true” to the direct relationships and showroom experiences that have been and continue to be successful. Retailers and designers are involved in these partnerships, each with their own tactics and objectives.

“We have worked hard to develop retail that supports repeatable products and pricing, and we have a history of great designer business,” Jason stated. Our commitment to data enables us to better predict trends and produce collections that appeal to a wide range of industries.

“Our clientele extends beyond residential areas to include commercial and hospitality settings, each with unique opportunities and needs,” he added. “Our strategy guarantees that we remain current, reachable, and in line with the particular objectives of every client segment.”

Both father and son are confident that shop discussion will continue to be discussed around dinner tables as the company moves into its next phase of leadership.

Since the birth of Jason and [his sister] Jessica, we have operated as a family business, Mark stated. They voluntarily took a week off from school to visit Bangkok, Bali, or Barcelona. How fortunate I am to have children who are eager to work in the furniture industry and are being prepared to succeed in it.

He went on, “Phillips Collection is in our DNA, so it’s inevitable that it will come up at our dinner table.” “With both Jason and Jessica taking the initiative, our family’s commitment is here to stay. We contribute a variety of viewpoints (ideally live-edge golden acacia), and such discussions help the business stay rooted in its history while fostering new ideas. I’m excited to hear from them regarding strategy, design, and our future steps.
