Monforts is expanding its engagement across Uzbekistan, Kenya and Pakistan as textile manufacturing investments accelerate and producers seek higher-value, resource-efficient technologies.
Monforts is stepping up its presence in some of the world’s fastest-growing textile manufacturing markets, with specialists scheduled to attend major industry events in Uzbekistan, Kenya and Pakistan during September and October 2026.
The German textile machinery specialist will participate in CAITME in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from September 8–10, join a textile machinery symposium in Nairobi, Kenya, on September 30, and return to IGATEX Pakistan in Lahore from October 15–18. Across all three markets, Monforts is focusing on opportunities in textile finishing, manufacturing integration, productivity and resource efficiency.
Uzbekistan Accelerates Move Toward Value-Added Textiles
Monforts Area Sales Manager Thomas Päffgen will represent the company at CAITME in Tashkent alongside its local partner Textile Technologies & Services (TTS) at Stand B50-9.
“Monforts has been closely involved in Uzbekistan’s rapid move downstream from cotton and yarn production into higher-value fabric manufacturing,” he explains. “We have Montex and Thermex installations already in place at a number of the country’s major vertically integrated manufacturers and as Uzbekistan looks to establish itself as a significant textile and apparel hub between Europe and Asia, its companies are increasingly looking at value addition through finishing – which is the area we specialise in.”
Uzbekistan’s textile sector has undergone significant transformation, evolving from an industry largely focused on raw cotton production and exports into a more integrated manufacturing ecosystem covering spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing and garment production.
The transformation accelerated following reforms introduced after President Shavkat Mirziyoyev came to power, with measures designed to reduce state control over cotton production, encourage private investment and retain more value within the country’s textile supply chain.
The emergence of vertically integrated textile clusters has further strengthened the sector by connecting cotton cultivation and ginning with downstream textile and apparel manufacturing.
For machinery suppliers such as Monforts, this transition is creating opportunities for advanced finishing technologies that can help manufacturers move further up the value chain.
Kenya Emerges as an African Textile Opportunity
Monforts Area Sales Manager Manfred Havenith will join members of the VDMA Textile Machinery Association for a symposium at the Emara Ole-Sereni Hotel in Nairobi on September 30.
Kenya is increasingly viewed as one of Africa’s promising textile and apparel manufacturing destinations, supported by its young workforce, competitive labour costs and experience in export-oriented apparel production.
“Kenya’s textile and apparel industry is emerging as one of Africa’s most promising manufacturing sectors,” he says. “After a difficult period when cheap imports, falling cotton production and under-investment led to the closure of many mills, the industry has rebuilt itself around export-oriented garment manufacturing while also beginning to revive its domestic textile supply chain. Today, the challenge is to move beyond being primarily a cut-and-sew manufacturing base and develop a fully integrated industry stretching from cotton farming to finished garments and technical textiles.”
The country’s workforce remains one of its major competitive advantages. According to Monforts, garment manufacturing currently provides formal-sector employment to more than 80,000 people, with women representing the majority of workers. The broader cotton value chain also supports thousands of additional livelihoods through farming, ginning and informal activities.
Kenya’s established relationships with international apparel brands provide another foundation for future growth, while the development of domestic textile production could help create a more complete manufacturing value chain.
Pakistan Remains a Key Market for Monforts
Following its activities in Uzbekistan and Kenya, Monforts will turn its attention to IGATEX Pakistan, taking place at Pakistan Expo Lahore from October 15–18.
The company will participate alongside regional partner Al Ameen at Stand F-2-09 in Hall 2. At the previous edition of IGATEX, Al Ameen marked its 75th anniversary.
Pakistan remains an important market for Monforts, particularly because of its large vertically integrated textile manufacturers and strong presence in home textiles and denim production.
Monforts continues to receive repeat orders from major textile manufacturers in and around Karachi, Lahore and Faisalabad, as companies expand production capacity and diversify into international markets.
“These companies rely on our established technologies including Montex stentering equipment, Monfortex sanforizing units and Thermex dyeing ranges,” says Manfred Havenith. “As they look to new markets in today’s highly-competitive industry, we continue to assist them with trials and optimised processing parameters in developing advanced fabrics for a wide range of end-uses, both at their own plants and at our Advanced Technology Centre (ATC) in Germany. We are very much looking forward to fruitful discussions in Lahore about the many options for increasing productivity while making major sustainable gains through resource efficiency.”
Focus on Productivity and Sustainable Textile Manufacturing
Monforts’ activities across the three markets reflect a broader shift within the global textile industry. Manufacturers are increasingly looking beyond production capacity alone, with greater emphasis on value addition, advanced finishing, productivity, energy and resource efficiency, and sustainable manufacturing.
With its Montex stentering, Monfortex sanforizing and Thermex dyeing technologies, Monforts is positioning itself as a technology partner for textile manufacturers seeking to improve processing performance while developing fabrics for increasingly diverse end-use applications.
The company’s participation in CAITME, the Nairobi symposium and IGATEX will provide opportunities to engage directly with manufacturers, industry stakeholders and existing and prospective customers as textile production continues to expand across these strategically important markets.
