The 32,000-square-foot store, which is part of the R City Mall in Ghatkopar, is the brand’s first appearance in India. The Nitori Group intends to open 280 outlets by 2032.
The largest furniture and home furnishings retailer in Japan, Nitori, set a shop in India for the first time at Mumbai’s R City Mall. With this launch, Nitori positions itself as a brand that offers premium furniture and décor items at reasonable costs, breaking into the USD 23.9 billion Indian home furnishings industry (Ken Research).
The brand’s global expansion goal, which aims to operate 3,000 locations worldwide by 2032, includes its debut in India. With 32,000 square feet of carpet space and a window display that highlights the brand’s style, pricing, and unique selling point, the premiere store is roomy.
“This store is special because with it we enter into the Indian furniture and home furnishing industry, which is an important market,” said Masanori Takeda, Executive Vice President in Charge of Overseas Businesses, General Manager, Global Merchandising Division, and General Manager, Global Sales Promotion Office, Nitori Holdings Co., Ltd., in response to the launch. Most importantly, it would enable us to fulfill our objective and meet the particular requirements of Indian households. I want to use this chance to express my gratitude to everyone who has helped us and to pledge to establish a secure environment for clients looking for top-notch products.
The store’s first event took place in the 1.2 million square foot R City, which is home to over 350 luxury brands and receives one million visitors every month. With a wide range of products, the Nitori Store at R City will offer a selection of high-end home furnishings for several categories.
By 2032, Nitori Group hopes to have 280 outlets open. According to the brand, they are growing their footprint in Asia and intend to open about 100 stores outside of Japan by the end of FY2024.
