The month-long campaign to emphasize the sustainable and social aspects of items made using GOTS-certified organic cotton gained broad support from industry.

Worldwide participation for the consumer-facing #BehindTheSeams program in September totaled over 290 brands. The second annual campaign was extended to include a full month of prizes from textile, soft home, and fashion firms every day. Mungo and Naturepedic were two home brands that gave away bedding.

According to Holger Stripf, head of marketing at Global Standard, “this campaign is a fun, engaging way to educate the public on living eco-consciously and why choosing organic textiles is better for the health of humans and the planet.”

Additionally, “organic in-conversion” farming is highlighted by #BehindTheSeams, which also exhorts businesses to assist farmers during this crucial transitional period. Joining forces with the Global Organic Textile Standard, the Organic Cotton Accelerator (OCA) is urging retailers, brands, and other stakeholders in the textile industry to participate.

OCA offers vital resources like market connections, premium payments, and capacity building. As part of a larger program that assists over 80,000 farmers, OCA worked with over 35,000 in-conversion farmers in India and Pakistan during the 2023–2024 cotton season. This impact has been made possible through the contributions of 16 businesses participating in OCA’s Farm Program.
