The National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC), operating under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, will host the Special Handloom Expo 2026 at Handloom Haat, Janpath, New Delhi, from February 21 to March 2, 2026. The exhibition will be open to the public daily from 9:00 AM.

Organised as part of the Government of India’s Vocal for Local and Make in India initiatives, the expo is designed to promote indigenous handloom products, build direct market connections between weavers and consumers, and enhance livelihood opportunities for artisans nationwide. Weavers and artisan collectives from 21 states will participate, presenting a wide variety of genuine handwoven creations.

Shoppers will be able to buy directly from the weavers and discover an extensive range of handloom sarees, dress materials, home furnishings, shawls, stoles, and modern handloom apparel. With sustainability at its core, the event will feature eco-friendly handloom products that support environmentally responsible consumption while empowering traditional weaving communities.

Providing direct selling platforms to weavers remains an important part of strengthening the handloom value chain, as it enables them to expand their customer base while ensuring fair price realisation, said a senior official from NHDC.

The Special Handloom Expo reflects the Government of India’s continued focus on revitalising the handloom sector by encouraging domestic consumption of locally made textiles and strengthening artisan livelihoods. By facilitating direct interaction between buyers and weavers, the initiative also aims to raise awareness about the cultural and ecological value of handloom products.

Handloom continues to be one of India’s largest cottage industries, supporting millions of weavers and allied workers. Events like this expo play a vital role in preserving traditional skills, promoting sustainable production practices, and highlighting the diversity of India’s rich weaving heritage.

Centrally located with free entry for all visitors, the exhibition invites residents and tourists to experience the richness of Indian handlooms, reinforcing the importance of safeguarding indigenous skills and promoting locally made products.
