The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, held a national seminar in Daman on September 9, 2026.
The seminar was titled “Trade and Export Opportunities.” It took place at the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium in Daman.
The MSME Development Office, Silvassa, organised the event. It brought together experts from trade, exports, e-commerce and technology.
A group of 60 NIFT Textile Design students attended the seminar. The students were from Semesters 3 and 7.
The seminar helped students learn about trade and export opportunities. It also gave them direct exposure to industry experts and government policies.
The programme included nine sessions. The sessions covered product innovation, e-commerce, exports, market research and technology.
Dr. Nupur Angirish and Sh. Nimesh Panchal spoke about product and process innovation. Their sessions focused on new ideas and better production methods.
Sh. Kuldeep Singh Rajput discussed e-commerce through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM). He explained how businesses can use the platform to reach buyers.
Sh. Pramod Taware, Assistant DGFT, Mumbai, explained key export policies. His sessions covered the Public Procurement Policy and the national EXIM Policy.
The afternoon sessions focused on global markets and e-commerce. Sh. Sandip Vinubhai Kathiriya spoke about selling products on global platforms such as Amazon.
Dr. Bidhan Das, Joint Director and Branch Head, IIP Ahmedabad, discussed design and packaging standards. He explained their role in international trade.
Dr. S. Balasubramaniam and Sh. Himanshu Singh spoke about market research and technology. They also discussed advanced manufacturing initiatives.
The final sessions covered government support for artisans. They also covered state support and Udyam Registration.
Sh. Pravin Ureshwar Doiphode and Sh. Shakti Singh Tanwar of MSME-DFO, Silvassa, led these sessions.
The seminar ended with a valedictory ceremony. All 60 NIFT students received certificates of participation.
The event gave students practical knowledge of trade and exports. It also helped them understand e-commerce, technology and global market opportunities in the textile and design sector.
