Nourison is redefining the market for accent rugs.

Novelty lines emphasize their superior softness and machine washability.

What’s the connection between a ripe avocado, blooming tulips, and clam shells? They produce attractive accent carpets.

Nourison Home debuted a new line of novelty rugs at this week’s New York Home Fashions Market. These rugs are molded by design themes and made of incredibly soft materials that are perfect for family use.

The spring/summer 2025 line, named Marigold, is machine washable and suitable for use in family rooms, children’s bedrooms, and other common parts of the house. It is tufted of polyester fibers treated for extra softness and has a non-skid backing. The vibrant designs feature fruits, flowers, shells, and other “fun, everyday” themes.

Giovanni Marra, vice president of marketing and creative, told HTT, “We’re continuing to build on this trend of seasonal, soft-pile, shaped accent rugs, which has been successful for us.” Our goal in manufacturing these carpets is to make them sturdy, endearing, and full of personality. For our customers, features like softness, texture, washability, and non-skid backing are still crucial.

The Millwood line from Nourison Home is geared for refined tastes. Millwood rugs are built similarly to Marigold in terms of strength, softness, and washability. They have modern linear patterns and traditional stripes “for an elegant look, and a broader audience,” according to Marra.

Nourison Home is seeing a rise in interest in natural fibers as well, which has led the brand to add two new jute-made programs to its lineup this season:

Baldwin and Fernwood may both be machine washed in cool water on the gentle cycle and have non-skid backing.

Customers are becoming more and more interested in the company’s natural fiber carpets, according to Marra, “because we make them functional and easy to care for.”

“We are anticipating a strong market week,” he said. We are optimistic that our product range and value will appeal to our important clients, and retailers are making purchases.
