Purple is emerging as a potential purple home design trend for 2027. The colour has already gained attention in fashion and is now moving into interiors.
Paint brand Farrow & Ball reported a 63.5% increase in U.S. sales of purple colour groups from 2025 to 2026. The growth has placed purple among the colour groups gaining momentum in the market.
Soft Purple for Calm Interiors
Farrow & Ball brand ambassador Patrick O’Donnell says lighter purple shades can create a softer look. He suggests Peignoir, a pale silver-lilac shade, for bedrooms, bathrooms, living rooms and kitchens.
The shade can work well with crisp white. This pairing creates a simple and timeless interior scheme.
Mid-Tone Purple for Living Rooms
For a stronger look, O’Donnell recommends Brassica. The smoky purple shade can suit a well-lit living room.
Brassica can also work with warm materials. O’Donnell suggests pairing it with tobacco-toned velvet furniture.
The shade can also extend outdoors. It can be used on a garden trellis to create contrast with green foliage.
Dark Purple for Dramatic Spaces
For deeper interiors, Farrow & Ball suggests Pelt. It is the darkest purple shade in the brand’s colour family.
O’Donnell recommends the shade for media rooms. Its deep tone can create a darker and more dramatic setting.
Pelt can also be combined with Brassica. Together, the shades can create a rich purple colour scheme.
Purple as an Exterior Accent
Purple can also work outside the home. O’Donnell recommends using the colour on a front door.
A full-gloss finish can add a stronger visual effect. Aged brass fixtures can complete the look.
The growing interest in different purple shades shows how the colour can move across interiors, furniture, gardens and exterior details.
