Reishi and Ligne Roset Introduce a New Standard in Sustainable Luxury Interiors.

Reishi, the innovative biomaterial developed by MycoWorks, makes its official debut in high-end furniture through a landmark collaboration with French luxury brand Ligne Roset. Unveiled during the Onirium event at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, this partnership marks the first industrial-scale integration of Reishi in interior design, showcasing its readiness to meet the highest standards of performance, scalability, and aesthetics.

At the heart of this launch is the Kobold sofa, designed by Erwan Bouroullec—a modular, elegant, and environmentally conscious piece that embodies the shared values of innovation and sustainability between Ligne Roset and MycoWorks.

Reishi: A Material for the Future of Design

Biomaterials have long held promise in sustainable design, but few have proven scalable or durable enough for industrial application. Reishi changes that narrative.

Developed using MycoWorks’ Fine Mycelium™ technology, Reishi offers:

  • Exceptional Performance – Resistant to daily wear and structurally durable, while remaining soft and elastic.

  • Natural Beauty – Each sheet of Reishi features organic veining and texture, making every piece unique.

  • Evolving Character – Like premium natural materials, Reishi develops a patina over time without compromising integrity.

  • Industrial Readiness – Unlike most biomaterials, Reishi is available at scale, making it ideal for commercial design applications.

“The integration of Reishi into the Ligne Roset collection is a powerful demonstration that sustainable luxury is not a concept of tomorrow—it is a reality today,” said Sophia Wang, co-founder of MycoWorks.

The Kobold Sofa: Designed with Purpose and Flexibility

Created by celebrated French designer Erwan Bouroullec, the Kobold is more than a seating solution—it is a reflection of thoughtful, modular design. Built around a central unit, the sofa accommodates various adaptable components, offering comfort, functionality, and sustainability in one seamless product.

The choice to upholster the Kobold with Reishi material reflects Ligne Roset’s deep commitment to eco-conscious design, without compromising on quality, durability, or visual appeal.

“We have been waiting for years for a natural and sustainable material that meets our quality standards and our customers’ expectations,” said Antoine Roset, Managing Director of Ligne Roset. “Our partnership with MycoWorks strengthens our commitment to ethical development while preserving the heritage of ‘Made in France’ design.”

Symbolism at Onirium: A Living Future of Design

Presented within a lush green scenography at the Onirium installation, the Kobold sofa surrounded by nature serves as a visual metaphor—representing harmony between natural materials and modern living. It’s not just a product launch; it’s a message to the design world: responsible materials can be beautiful, performative, and industrially viable.

This collaboration sets a precedent for the future of interiors, where natural materials like Reishi offer a new standard in both design excellence and environmental responsibility.
