Global renewable carbon economy event to take place in Germany from 22–24 September 2026

Renewable Materials Conference 2026 has released its final programme ahead of the event scheduled to take place in Siegburg/Cologne, Germany, from 22–24 September 2026.

Organised by nova-Institute, the conference is expected to attract between 400 and 500 participants from around the world, including companies, innovators, investors, policymakers, and industry stakeholders.

According to the organisers, the 2026 edition will focus on the theme “Defossilisation through innovation,” highlighting developments in bioeconomy, carbon capture and utilisation (CCU), recycling, renewable chemicals, and sustainable materials.

The conference programme includes 80 presentations, more than 20 panel discussions, 16 workshops, and an exhibition focused on renewable carbon technologies and applications.

Three-Day Program Focuses on Renewable Carbon Strategies

Day one of the conference will focus on “Defossilisation of the Chemical Industry,” including sessions on renewable carbon strategies, speciality chemicals, lignin, and CO2 utilisation.

Day two will centre on “Fossil-free Plastics,” covering bio-based polymers, coatings, adhesives, binders, CO2-based polymers, recycled plastics, and applications across automotive, packaging, textiles, toys, and consumer goods sectors.

The third day will address policy, market development, biodegradable materials, and long-term strategies under the theme “Setting the Frame for Renewable Carbon.”

According to nova-Institute, the workshops will cover topics including sustainability policy, carbon footprint analysis, strategy development, and emerging technologies, with participation designed for smaller discussion groups.

The event exhibition will feature 40 booths across two floors showcasing developments linked to the renewable carbon economy. Networking activities will include evening events and professional matchmaking sessions.

A key feature of the conference will be the “Renewable Material of the Year 2026” innovation award. Organisers stated that six innovations will be nominated by the conference advisory board, with shortlisted participants presenting during the event before audience voting determines the winners.

According to the organisers, the conference aims to support collaboration and discussion around renewable chemicals, sustainable materials, and emerging value chains linked to the transition away from fossil-based resources.
