RE&UP hosted an exclusive industry dialogue at the Future Fabrics Expo 2025 in London, focusing on the crucial topic of scaling textile-to-textile recycling. The session, titled “Yesterday’s garments, today’s raw materials – what’s holding us back?” brought together experts, brands, retailers, and sustainability leaders to examine the systemic and technical obstacles still hindering circular progress in the textile sector.
The breakfast session, moderated by Keith O’Brien, Senior PR & Marketing Manager at RE&UP, featured thought-provoking insights from Nienke Steen of the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute and Priyanka Khanna from Fashion for Good. With over 50 industry stakeholders in attendance, the panel tackled key themes including infrastructure gaps, investment challenges, and the crucial role of certifications and collaboration in scaling recycling.
This conversation reflects RE&UP’s dedication to fostering transparent, solutions-driven dialogue in the fashion industry. The panelists emphasized that while hurdles remain, collaboration and innovation are actively unlocking new pathways toward scalable textile recycling.
Andreas Dorner, General Manager of RE&UP, summed up the event’s intent by stating: “Yesterday’s garments are already today’s raw materials. There are still challenges, but we’re operating at scale – and with the right partners, we’ll continue to do better.”
