Home décor brand Schoolhouse has officially returned to the market following its acquisition by Hudson Valley Lighting Group (HVLG) in February 2026. The relaunch marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Portland, Oregon-based brand, with an expanded focus on lighting, textiles, hardware and home goods while retaining its signature design philosophy.

The brand has begun a soft launch with the return of several customer favourites, including the Stillwater Floral Quilt, Edgecliff Pull, Ann Occasional Table and other popular products, which are now available through the Schoolhouse website. According to the company, additional core products will be restocked in the coming months alongside the introduction of new collections.

Focus on Craftsmanship and Design

Commenting on the relaunch, Malaina Matheus, President of Hudson Valley Lighting Group, said the company aims to preserve the craftsmanship, character and approachable design that have long defined the Schoolhouse brand while thoughtfully evolving its product portfolio.

HVLG described the acquisition and relaunch as a natural partnership between two companies that share a commitment to design-led products, quality craftsmanship and long-lasting home furnishings.

Continued Direct-to-Consumer Strategy

Schoolhouse will continue operating as a direct-to-consumer brand, complementing Mitzi, another consumer-focused lighting brand within the Hudson Valley Lighting Group portfolio. HVLG’s family of brands also includes Hudson Valley Lighting, Corbett Lighting, Troy Lighting and Sonneman.

While Schoolhouse’s former brick-and-mortar showroom in Portland, Oregon, was not included in the acquisition, the company currently has no plans to open physical retail stores for the brand.

Instead, Schoolhouse products will be showcased at the trade shows in which Hudson Valley Lighting Group participates, helping expand the brand’s visibility among retailers, designers and industry professionals.

With its relaunch under new ownership, Schoolhouse aims to build on its loyal customer following while expanding its portfolio of thoughtfully designed home décor products that combine timeless aesthetics with everyday functionality.
