South Bay International to Debut Dream+ Sleep Fabric at Las Vegas Market
Science-backed fabric technology aims to enhance sleep quality through innovative mattress and pillow textiles.
South Bay International is set to unveil Dream+, a new sleep technology integrated directly into mattress fabrics and pillow covers, at the Las Vegas Market, taking place from 26–31 July. The launch reflects the growing emphasis on fabric innovation and wellness-focused features as mattress manufacturers seek new ways to differentiate their products.
Unlike conventional sleep technologies that rely on additional accessories or external components, Dream+ is infused directly into mattress fabrics and pillow covers. According to South Bay International, the technology is designed to support the body’s natural sleep processes while offering manufacturers and retailers a distinctive product proposition.
Fabric-Level Innovation
Edgar Carrasco, Director of Product Development at South Bay International, said the sleep category is increasingly demanding science-backed innovations that provide measurable benefits for consumers.
Dream+ enables manufacturers to offer products with fabric-level functionality, giving retailers a stronger value proposition beyond traditional comfort and mattress construction.
Developed with Award-Winning Technology
The Dream+ platform was developed by textile supplier BekaertDeslee, whose innovation received the German Innovation Award 2025.
The fabric incorporates biodegradable microcapsules containing a natural, upcycled extract of Australian tea tree oil. According to the company, the calming aroma released through inhalation is intended to promote relaxation and naturally support melatonin production.
Clinical Study Findings
To evaluate the technology, BekaertDeslee commissioned a 30-day clinical study conducted by a Portuguese sleep laboratory using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), a recognised tool for assessing sleep quality.
The study involved 33 participants with documented sleep issues who used a pillow fitted with a Dream+-infused cover.
According to the company, participants showed improvements in six of the seven sleep quality categories measured, including:
- Sleep efficiency
- Time taken to fall asleep
- Sleep duration
- Perceived sleep quality
Overall, participants recorded more than a 45% improvement in the study’s global sleep quality score. The study reported no statistically significant change in participants’ use of sleep medication.
South Bay International noted that Dream+ is designed to complement existing sleep aids rather than replace them.
Showcase at Las Vegas Market
Visitors will be able to experience the new technology at South Bay International’s showroom B-962 during the upcoming Las Vegas Market, where the company will present Dream+ as part of its latest portfolio of sleep innovation solutions for the bedding industry.
