Coimbatore-based SVPISTM has been recognised for its contribution to textile and clothing sustainability education at the CITI Textile Sustainability Awards 2026.

The institute also presented its Kasturi Fashion Showcase at Bharat Tex 2026, highlighting the journey from cotton farming to sustainable fashion.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International School of Textiles and Management (SVPISTM), Coimbatore, has received the “Best Academic Institution – Educational Contribution to Textile and Clothing Sustainability” award at the CITI Textile Sustainability Awards 2026.

The award was presented during Bharat Tex 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Dr. Biswaranjan Ghosh, Director, SVPISTM, received the honour from Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Textiles, Shri Pabitra Margherita, in the presence of senior Ministry of Textiles officials, global industry leaders and international delegates.

The recognition acknowledges SVPISTM’s contribution to textile education through industry-focused learning, sustainability-oriented research, innovation, skill development and collaboration with the textile and apparel industry.

The award also highlights the institute’s role in developing a future-ready workforce for India’s textile sector and supporting the industry’s transition towards competitive and environmentally responsible textile value chains.

At Bharat Tex 2026, SVPISTM also presented the “Kasturi Fashion Showcase – From Farm to Fashion”. The showcase traced the journey of Kasturi Cotton, India’s premium branded cotton, from the farmer’s field to contemporary fashion.

The presentation brought together sustainable agriculture, textile processing, apparel design and value-added manufacturing. The curated collection highlighted India’s cotton heritage and the role of innovation, circularity and sustainable fashion in the textile industry’s future.

Hon’ble Union Minister for Textiles Shri Giriraj Singh appreciated the creativity and efforts of the SVPISTM students who presented the sustainable fashion showcase. The presentation received appreciation from Union Ministers, policymakers, international buyers, textile manufacturers, researchers and fashion professionals attending Bharat Tex 2026.

In another recognition for the institute, S. Harish, a III BBA student of SVPISTM, received the Special Recognition Award in the Low-Cost Product Development category at Sanrachna 2026, held during Bharat Tex 2026, for his contribution to nonwoven product development.

The two achievements—SVPISTM’s national sustainability award and the Kasturi Fashion Showcase at Bharat Tex 2026—highlight the institute’s growing contribution to textile education, innovation and sustainability.

The recognition further supports SVPISTM’s focus on developing professionals equipped to contribute to sustainable growth in India’s textile and apparel sector.
