Tangshan Sanyou Advances Circular Textile Innovation with New Pilot Facility
Tangshan, China | May 27, 2025 – Tangshan Sanyou, a global leader in Man-Made Cellulosic Fibre (MMCF) production, has taken a major step toward circularity by launching a new ten-tonne pilot testing facility. The site will trial a solvent-based process that converts waste cotton textiles into high-quality viscose fibre, supporting the company’s expanding ReVisco™ line of recycled MMCF products.
This milestone strengthens Tangshan Sanyou’s position as an early adopter of Next Generation (Next Gen) fibre solutions. Since 2018, the company has actively integrated various recycled textile feedstocks, working toward a more circular, sustainable manufacturing model.
Key achievements in their sustainability journey include:
-
Being the first MMCF producer to use CIRCULOSE®—a recycled cotton pulp—at 30% in its ReVisco™ viscose fibres.
-
Renewing ties with CIRCULOSE®’s new management as the innovator resumes mill operations in Sweden.
-
Integrating Södra’s OnceMore® recycled pulp into modal and viscose fibres at a 20% blend.
-
Scaling readiness to produce up to 200,000 tonnes/year of ReVisco™, based on demand.
-
Advancing development of ReVisco™ lyocell and using alternative raw materials like hemp and Juncao.
According to Nicole Rycroft, Executive Director of Canopy, Tangshan Sanyou’s work plays a vital role in shifting away from forest-based inputs and promoting circular textile systems at industrial scale. The company has earned strong recognition in Canopy’s sustainability rankings, including a Dark Green Shirt in the 2024 Hot Button Report, indicating no known risk of sourcing from Ancient and Endangered Forests.
With an annual MMCF production capacity of 808,000 tonnes, Tangshan Sanyou remains at the forefront of sustainable innovation in the global textile industry.
