Taram Textiles is highlighting its spinning capacity as India’s yarn and fibre sector faces rising costs and weaker demand.
The company operates 425,000 spindles and 10,000 rotors. Its total annual production capacity stands at 48,000 metric tons.
Focus on Fine-Count Spinning
Harish Raja, Vice President of Operations at Taram Textiles, said the current market is creating new opportunities for fine-count spinning.
According to Raja, higher thread counts are becoming harder to source in India. This includes counts above 400.
Taram Textiles sees this gap as an opportunity. The company is part of the Textiles Division of Ramco Group.
The division has fine-count spinning and weaving capacity. It also has a captive processing unit and an automated cut-and-sew facility.
“Our legacy as a contract spinner positions us to respond,” Raja said. He added that the company has control over key parts of production, including yarn and fibre.
Rising Costs Pressure Spinners
India’s yarn and fibre sector has faced strong cost pressure over the past two years. Raw material costs have increased, while yarn prices have not kept pace.
The pressure has also affected spinning capacity across the country. According to figures cited in the source report, around 40% of fibre and yarn units have either closed or reduced operations.
The wider textile sector is also facing changes in sourcing and supply chains. Retailers are consolidating their buying groups. Supplier consolidation is also increasing in India’s sheeting segment.
U.S. tariff changes have added further pressure. The changes have also influenced textile sourcing decisions between China, India and the U.S.
Focus on Sheeting Innovation
Taram Textiles is also focusing on product development. The company sees opportunities for innovation in sheets and other home textile products.
Raja said the company can test and develop new weave structures. He added that Taram can bring these innovations into production quickly.
