tExtended, a leading EU-funded initiative for circular textile innovation, will host an interactive workshop at the 3rd ECOSYSTEX Conference, taking place from September 29 to October 1, 2025, at Jacy’z Hotel, Gothenburg, Sweden. The workshop, titled “Building a Collaborative Circular Textile System,” will engage participants in validating the project’s system models and logistics-based strategies for sustainable textile cycling.
The aim is to demonstrate the progress made toward developing a blueprint for the optimized circulation of discarded textiles and to gather essential feedback from stakeholders. This feedback will play a vital role in evaluating current assumptions, refining insights on circularity, understanding policy trade-offs, and identifying the primary challenges in developing a fully circular and sustainable textile ecosystem.
The workshop will be led by tExtended project partners from VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, and Tekologistik.
“Over the past two years and a half of work, tExtended has advanced the development of digital and technological solutions for textile waste management and circularity, and we will continue developing innovations in the next months. However, validating the results obtained so far requires collaboration and cooperation also outside of tExtended, which is why the workshop at the ECOSYSTEX conference is so important and will help us ensuring we are going in the right direction,”
— Dr. Pirjo Heikkilä, Project Coordinator, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland.
In addition to the workshop, tExtended will host an exhibition at the conference, showcasing textile samples co-developed by project partners. These samples will illustrate achievements in textile recycling innovations, ranging from demonstration pieces to fully finished garments prepared for market introduction. The exhibition will emphasize the power of cross-collaboration among stakeholders in driving circular textile advancements.
The ECOSYSTEX Conference, now in its third edition, is organized by the European Community of Practice for a Sustainable Textile Ecosystem, launched in 2023. It serves as a key platform for advancing collaboration in sustainable and circular textile innovations. This year’s theme focuses on new technologies and business models promoting textile circularity.
