Milano Unica 2025: The Evolution of Eco-Performance in Textiles

At the prestigious Milano Unica 2025, leading textile manufacturers revealed high-tech and sustainable fabric innovations. With eco-performance, biodegradability, and design versatility at the forefront, several exhibitors unveiled advanced materials for fashion, sportswear, lingerie, and lifestyle products.

Brugnoli: Naturally Explosive Technology

Brugnoli introduced its groundbreaking Naturally Explosive fabric – a high-performance material crafted from natural fibers that mimics a second-skin feel. Ideal for sportswear and ready-to-wear, it delivers muscle support and superior movement freedom. Featuring TENCEL™ Modal with Micro technology from Lenzing AG and ROICA Colour Perfect™ stretch fiber by Asahi Kasei, this textile ensures vibrant color and eco-responsibility. The technology is also available in a high-tech version incorporating polyamide with enhanced biodegradability and ROICA™ V550 degradable elastane.

Iluna Group: Luxury Lace with Purpose

A pioneer in premium stretch lace, Iluna showcased a visionary collection for prêt-à-porter and beachwear. At its core is ROICA™ EF, a recycled stretch fiber made from pre-consumer materials, offering superb elasticity and comfort. The collection is enriched with Q-NOVA® and RENCYCLE® recycled polyamides, printable jacquards, and GRS-certified LUREX® nets. Boasting over 75% recycled content, the collection fuses luxury design with sustainability.

Innova Fabrics: Residual Free Line

Innova presented its Residual Free (RF) line, developed using Sensil® Biocare and ROICA™ V550, ensuring environmental responsibility without compromising on elasticity or comfort. Key fabrics—I LOVE RF, LYON RF, and PARIS SPECIAL—offer performance aligned with green innovation.

InterJersey Milano: Responsible Elegance

Debuting at Milano Unica, InterJersey Milano’s collection centers around three eco-focused fabrics made with ROICA™ V550.

  • Venere offers a tailored fit for bodysuits and tops with microfiber softness.

  • Bio Nature, ideal for linings and underwear, includes AMNI® SOUL ECO®, achieving 94% biodegradation in five years.

  • Bio Context, their beachwear bestseller, blends UV protection, elasticity, and eco-efficiency, offering accelerated biodegradability.

Maglificio Maggia: Eco-Rich Winterwear

Famed for circular knits, Maggia debuted two key fabrics using TENCEL™ Modal and ROICA™ V550.

  • Simple Jersey (51150): A cashmere blend for lightweight winter wear, offering premium comfort.

  • Milano Rib (55698): A structured knit for jackets and overshirts, delivering breathability and shape retention.

 

Maglificio Ripa: Innovation with Tradition

Combining decades of craftsmanship with modern fibers like ROICA™, Maglificio Ripa produces four-way stretch circular fabrics ideal for sportswear and intimates. Their jacquard-ready materials balance elasticity, durability, and fit—exemplifying high-performance design with sustainability.

Penn Solutions: Tech Fabrics for Athletics

Penn Solutions introduced engineered sportswear fabrics like Art.13346 (Polyamide 77%, ROICA™ 23%) and recycled variants like Art. 13817 and 13819. These feature custom 3D patterns, ventilation zones, and soft touch finishes, supporting aerodynamics and muscle performance during rigorous activity.

Reda: 160 Years of Wool Innovation

To celebrate its 160th anniversary, Reda showcased the 2865 fabric under the Reda 1865 line. Woven with degradable ROICA™ V550, it embraces top-dye color depth, shape adaptability, and multifunctional use beyond jackets—presented in hues like Aubergine and Cobblestone. “A single fabric, capable of adapting and transforming with elegance,” said Reda, emphasizing the contemporary man’s evolving identity

Sitip Group: Sun-Protected Sustainability

Sitip presented high-performance fabrics integrating ROICA™ for sports and technical wear.

  • NEW MONICA: Offers UPF 50+ protection, stretch, and shape retention, ideal for base layers.

  • FORCE PLX LIGHT: Lighter than its 2024 version, it improves breathability and comfort for athletic garments.

  • BLIZZARD PLX STONE: With brushed interiors and ROICA™ EF, it ensures thermal comfort for winter gear.

Tessitura Colombo Antonio: Lace with Legacy

Established in 1960, this Milan-based family brand unveiled elegant lace fabrics infused with ROICA™ for lingerie, outerwear, and knitwear. Merging artisanal design with sustainability, their new lace line enhances comfort, fit, and textile responsibility—setting a high bar for eco-luxury.
