Vancouver, British Columbia— The design trends for 2025 are reflecting cultural changes, whether it’s a return to deeper, more grounded colors, a move toward historic design elements, or the adoption of bolder, more modern styles.
In a recent webinar showcasing the findings of its first industry survey,of Maura Dineen, creative director Moe’s Home Collection, a 25-year-old, second-generation home furnishings firm, outlined these trends among others.
More than 400 shops, interior designers, and purchasers in the US and Canada participated in the poll, which yielded information on the four main themes that Moe’s found.
According to Dineen, crafted heritage is a reflection of a deeper yearning to connect with one’s roots, family, or heritage. She claimed that the relevance of this trend, which is all about combining styles, has been increasing.
The growing significance of tapestry was one of the survey’s findings pertaining to this issue. In 2025, heritage tapestry was expected to dominate pattern trends, according to about one-third of respondents. According to those surveyed, artisan weaves are also a favorite material due to their homage to traditional workmanship.
“Rattan really paved the way for this,” Dineen said, adding that the usage of thicker woven appearances, like rope applications, is a more contemporary approach.
“Millennials and Gen X are finding this traditional, handcrafted heritage approach to be very meaningful.” It appeals to this strong feeling of nostalgia,” she stated.
According to Dineen, the following theme, Bold is Timeless, is completely the opposite of the first one. It honors individualism and bold, expressive interiors. According to 40% of respondents to Moe’s survey, diverse interiors will become more popular by 2025.
According to Dineen, this design is all about bold hues, lacquered surfaces, chrome accents, and items that reject conformity and highlight individuality.
Dineen stated that color is a popular topic and that a move from light neutrals to deeper tones is anticipated. Espresso brown stands out among the Earthy, Rich Tones trend, according to her, with 59% of respondents saying it will be the most popular color.
She claimed that Moe’s has noticed a rise in interest in brown tones since High Point Market in the fall. According to her, using deeper colors—which can range from brown to burgundy to dark green—is about designing rooms that are calming, nurturing, and healing.
Functional Simplicity, the last trend Dineen described, is exemplified by multipurpose furniture and clever, space-saving solutions like enclosed bookcases, concealed mattresses, and built-in storage in upholstery.
According to roughly one-fifth of poll participants, minimalism will become popular in 2025 due to its simple, functional style.
