According to the 2024 Houzz U.S. Emerging Winter Trends Report, which is based on user search data from January to September of 2023 and 2024, users of the platforms want comfortable, stylish designs, but they also prioritize functionality and flexibility.
Compared to the same time last year, searches for furniture that saves space, such as “kitchen islands with a drop leaf,” jumped 3.5 times. Additionally, the number of “pop-up trundle daybeds” tripled, indicating the demand for adaptable furniture for entertaining. Searches for “professional organizers” have increased 1.5 times, indicating a rise in interest in organization.
Additionally, searches for “green decorative pillows” have increased almost four times, and searches for “blue decorative pillows” have increased twice, indicating the popularity of seasonal décor. The comfort and stain-resistant qualities of “wool rugs” probably contributed to the 1.5-fold surge in searches for them.
Additionally, modern design aspects are becoming more popular. While searches for “oval mirrors” rose 41%, those for “arched cabinets” almost tripled. Additionally, a 5.5-fold increase in “oval bathroom vanity mirrors” was noticed in the paper.
Additionally, searches for “square coffee tables” and “checkerboard floors” rose by 1.5 times, indicating a tendency to combine angular and rounder shapes.
The data in the analysis shows an increase in U.S.-based Houzz searches from January to September 2024 compared to January to September 2023.
