Los Angeles For the release of its newest collection, direct-to-consumer washable rug company Ruggable has teamed up with multidisciplinary artist and textile surface designer Malene Barnett.
Barnett, who is renowned for her designs that center around the modern black experience, stated that the collection pays tribute to her background and that Black culture, art, and contemporary design served as her main sources of inspiration.
“My Ruggable collection has the ability to transform spaces with its diverse patterns and color palette,” Barnet stated. “It draws from the rich heritage of heritage textures and designs, from body art and sgraffito pottery celebrating the essence of Black culture, art, and design in Nuba to Mali’s mud cloth textiles.”
“With their asymmetrical layouts and endless design options, each rug gives you the freedom to create an environment that really expresses your personal style,” the spokesperson continued.
According to Barnett, the collection’s handcrafted designs, which feature modern abstract patterns in vibrant shades of blue, green, and ochre, evoke the mystique and spirituality of native African traditions. She created a space for creativity and connection by inviting everyone to participate in the artistic array of patterns.
Ruggable CMO Jenna Habayeb stated, “As a brand that encourages everyone to embrace living fully, we’re excited to bring Malene’s joyful spirit and designs to our customers.” She inspires us with her designs that are both modern and culturally relevant, as well as with her activism on behalf of Black artists. These items, with their striking colors and patterns, make a statement in any space.
