VIATT 2025: Paving the Future for Sustainable & Smart Textiles

The Vietnam International Trade Fair for Apparel, Textiles, and Textile Technologies (VIATT) successfully concluded its second edition, reaffirming its role as a key trade platform in the global textile value chain. Held from 26 – 28 February 2025, the event welcomed over 19,000 visitors from more than 70 countries and regions, marking a 10% increase compared to the previous year. The exhibition also hosted 463 exhibitors from 24 countries and regions, reflecting 13% growth in international participation.

With an expanded exhibition space and the introduction of new thematic zones and pavilions, VIATT 2025 showcased Vietnam’s growing influence in textile innovation, sustainability, and its deeper integration into the global supply chain.

Connecting Vietnam to the Global Textile Market

Endorsed by Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), VIATT continues to be a driving force for the country’s textile and garment sector. At the fair’s opening ceremony, Ms. Phan Thi Thang, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, emphasized the industry’s significance:

“The textile and garment industry contributes 12 – 16% of Vietnam’s total export turnover. With 17 new-generation free trade agreements (FTAs) in effect, we aim to reach USD 48 billion in export turnover by 2025, further strengthening Vietnam’s position in the global supply chain.”

Reflecting on the success of the event, Ms. Wilmet Shea, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, stated:

“VIATT 2025 exceeded expectations, with strong participation from key international players and the introduction of the European Zone and India Pavilion. The fair has significantly expanded in internationality, exhibitor and visitor numbers, and industry insights, further establishing itself as the leading platform to explore ASEAN’s dynamic textile market.”

Spotlight on Innovation, Technology, and Sustainability

In alignment with global industry trends, VIATT 2025 placed a strong emphasis on sustainability and cutting-edge textile technologies. This was highlighted through two newly introduced zones:

  • Innovation & Digital Solutions Zone – Showcasing the latest advancements in textile technology.
  • Econogy Hub – A dedicated space for sustainable materials, processes, and solutions.

Industry Perspectives

Mr. Nguyen Tri Duc, Overseas Sales Department, Toyo Orimono (Japan), exhibiting at Econogy Hub, noted:

“This platform has been exceptional for networking. We have seen increased demand for recycled fibers and eco-friendly textiles, particularly from Japan and Europe.”

At the European Zone, industry associations such as the UK Fashion and Textile Association (UKFT) spotlighted the craftsmanship of premium British fabric mills. Mr. Daniel Connolly, Senior Executive at UKFT, shared insights on the UK’s growing ties with Vietnam:

“Vietnam’s textile sector is expanding rapidly with sustainable, ethical production. The UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement and CPTPP membership present significant opportunities for collaboration.”

Mr. Bao Jia Cheng, Shaoxing Sunsmile Textile Co Ltd (China):

“Southeast Asia is a key focus for future industry growth. VIATT has provided strong business connections, especially with buyers from Vietnam, Thailand, and India.”

Mr. Zhang Jian, Muye Home Fashion Vietnam Co Ltd:

“Vietnam’s consumer market and supply chain are more developed than other Southeast Asian nations. We received strong interest from local wholesalers and stores, confirming the region’s purchasing power.”

Leading Global Brands at VIATT 2025

Nine international buyer delegations from Europe, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and the US sourced at the fair. VIP buyers included Adidas, Nike, Zara, IKEA, Muji, Lululemon, and American Eagle, reinforcing VIATT’s status as a premier sourcing hub.

Inspiring Panel Discussions & Live Demonstrations

Beyond business networking, VIATT 2025 featured a diverse fringe program covering:

  • The Future of Sustainability in Vietnam’s Fashion Industry – Organized with Redress, featuring sustainable fashion pioneers such as ECOSOI and Passi.
  • Interior Design Roundtable: Sustainable Interiors with Smart Textiles – Led by VDAS Design Association, highlighting eco-conscious advancements in home textiles.
  • Vietnam Investment Summit (VCICS 2025) – Fostering business collaborations between China and Vietnam.

Prof. Calvin Wong, CEO of AiDLab (Hong Kong), commented:

“AI-driven fabric inspection was a key focus of my presentation. The industry is eager for innovations in textile AI, and VIATT has facilitated strong business opportunities.”

Runway Showcases & Live Workshops

The event concluded with two major fashion shows by Vietnamese designer Vu Viet Ha and French designer Manix Wong, alongside runway presentations from Thailand and Taiwan. Attendees also participated in an interactive macramé weaving workshop, bringing craftsmanship and sustainability to life.

Looking Ahead: VIATT 2026 & Beyond

Following its successful second edition, VIATT will return for VIATT 2026, taking place from 26 – 28 February 2026.
