Zen and now: peaceful house designs that are popular on Pinterest

San Francisco Trending searches on Pinterest suggest that peaceful colors, comfort, and tranquility are key components of the fall décor palette.

Pinterest noticed a 90% increase in searches for “cozy fall vibes” in its Fall 2024 Report. The most popular searches were for “cozy sunrooms” (up 930%), “cozy lighting” (up 200%), and “cozy reading room” (up 140%). In the comfortable category, floral room décor (up 370%), dreamy artwork (up 680%), and candle bouquets (up 720%) are other popular trends.

The comfortable palette includes shades of green, blue, and purple. This year, from May to June, there was a significant spike in the popularity of “green home décor,” up 2,670% over the previous year.

Significant increases in sage and blue color palette (up 570%), moody purple bedroom (up 350%), dark green bathroom (up 350%), and blue-and-cream bedroom (up 200%) are among the other color-related Pinterest searches that have shown growth between June 2023 and June 2024.

Searches for Japanese or zen-style living also fall under the category of calm. Leading the pack with a 405% increase is the “zen house,” but other popular trends include Japanese living room design (up 135%), Japanese futon bedrooms (up 245%), and Japanese vintage art (up 270%).

According to Pinterest’s research, there is a growing interest in Japanese culture across various categories, including food, hobbies, and fashion. Searches for deconstructed sushi bowl have increased by 370%, while searches for Japanese books have increased by 100%, Japanese crochet bags by 380%, Japanese side bangs by 1,645%, and Japanese long skirt outfits by 85%.
