Electricity Supply Restoration Underway in Flood-Affected Areas After Yamuna Water Levels Recede: Tata Power-DDL
New Delhi – Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL), a leading power distribution company serving around 9 million residents in North Delhi, has initiated the phased restoration of electricity supply in areas affected by recent flooding, as Yamuna River water levels continue to recede.
Earlier, as a precautionary step, Tata Power-DDL had suspended electricity supply in several low-lying regions after informing stakeholders. This measure was taken to ensure consumer safety and prevent any electrical mishaps amid rising water levels.
Now that conditions are improving, the company has commenced step-by-step restoration, strictly following all safety protocols. Restoration is only carried out after obtaining clearances from relevant authorities and conducting comprehensive safety inspections to eliminate risks.
Tata Power-DDL’s field teams have been working tirelessly on the frontlines to safeguard the power infrastructure, protect consumers, and maintain close vigilance over the evolving situation.
A Tata Power-DDL spokesperson emphasized:
“Consumer safety is our highest priority. While restoration has begun in a phased manner, electricity is being re-energised only after proper inspections and safety clearances. We thank our consumers for their patience, cooperation, and support during this challenging period.”
The company further commended its frontline workforce for their continuous efforts in restoring normalcy with strict adherence to safety measures.
Tata Power-DDL also issued a public advisory urging consumers to remain alert and follow safety practices during the ongoing restoration process:
-
Turn off the main power supply if water enters your premises.
-
Avoid touching electrical appliances, wires, or switches with wet hands, feet, or surroundings.
-
Stay away from metallic gates, fences, and electricity poles that may carry current during waterlogging.
Consumers are advised to immediately contact the Tata Power-DDL Helpline 19124 in case of any electricity-related emergency.
