Proposed collaboration to focus on sustainable fibre innovation and home textile development

Trident Group is exploring a strategic collaboration with ICAR-National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology (ICAR-NINFET), Kolkata, aimed at advancing the development of natural fibre-based home textile products.

As part of the discussions, Nemai Chandra Ray met with D. B. Shakyawar along with the institute’s scientific and leadership teams to explore opportunities in textile research, fibre technology development, and industrial applications.

According to the organisations, the proposed collaboration may include the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding focused on the joint development of advanced textile products using fibre innovations such as linen-inspired cottonised jute, hemp, and linseed blends.

The initiative aims to combine ICAR-NINFET’s research capabilities with Trident Group’s manufacturing infrastructure, product development expertise, and market reach to support the commercialisation of sustainable textile products.

The collaboration is expected to focus on fibre processing technologies including cottonisation, blending, spinning, weaving, and finishing processes for natural fibre applications in home textiles.

According to the companies, the initiative is intended to support the development of environmentally responsible textile products while improving the commercial viability of sustainable fibre solutions for domestic and international markets.

The proposed partnership also aligns with broader industry efforts linked to sustainable manufacturing, green industrial growth, and initiatives such as Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The organisations stated that the collaboration could contribute to strengthening India’s natural fibre ecosystem and enhancing the country’s position in global textile exports.
