Health-Focused QSR Brand Plans Rapid Bengaluru Expansion Following Funding Round
Açaí Theory, a health-focused quick service restaurant (QSR) brand, has raised ₹4 crore in a pre-seed funding round led by All In Capital, with participation from TDV Partners and several prominent angel investors.
The funding round also saw investments from notable industry leaders, including Rinshul Chandra (Former COO, Zomato Food Delivery), Harpreet Grover (Founder, Curious Parent), Anurag Prasad (CEO, Visit Health), and Harish Varadarajan (CEO, Fragaria), among others.
Capital to Support Expansion and Technology Integration
The newly raised capital will be used to accelerate Açaí Theory’s expansion plans, strengthen its supply chain infrastructure, enhance research and development capabilities, and increase brand visibility.
As part of its growth strategy, the company plans to establish 8–10 outlets across Bengaluru, develop a centralized kitchen to ensure product consistency, and implement AI-powered tools and digitized standard operating procedures to improve operational efficiency and scalability.
Building India’s First Açaí-Led Healthy Indulgence QSR
Founded in 2025 by Rishav Ranjan and Akash Kyal, Açaí Theory aims to build India’s first healthy indulgence QSR platform centered around açaí, the nutrient-rich superfood sourced from the Amazon region of Brazil.
Both founders are IIT and IIM alumni who previously worked as Project Leaders at Boston Consulting Group (BCG). Their international exposure inspired the idea of introducing açaí as a convenient, nutritious meal option for Indian consumers.
The brand operates on an assembly-only model with no live cooking, allowing for faster service, greater consistency, and easier scalability across multiple locations.
Its menu includes a variety of açaí bowls, smoothies, and superfood-based snacks, designed to combine taste, nutrition, and convenience.
Strong Early Market Response
Açaí Theory currently operates its flagship outlet in Indiranagar, Bengaluru, where it has served more than 10,000 bowls within six months of launching in October 2025, demonstrating encouraging early traction and product-market fit.
Commenting on the funding, co-founders Rishav Ranjan and Akash Kyal said:
“We started with a simple question: why does eating healthy in India feel like a compromise, while the food we truly enjoy often lacks nutrition? Having experienced global markets where health and indulgence go hand in hand, we knew there was a gap back home. That’s what led us to build Açaí Theory.”
They added that the company’s goal is to make healthy indulgence an everyday lifestyle choice while building a scalable business model for future expansion into new markets.
Investors See Opportunity in Emerging Health Food Category
Ujwal Sutaria, Founder and General Partner at TDV Partners, highlighted the growing demand among younger consumers for functional and nutritious food options.
He noted that the global smoothies and healthy bowls market is expected to exceed $23 billion by 2030, creating a significant opportunity for category creation in India’s emerging açaí segment.
Meanwhile, Simran Patel, VP Consumer Investments at All In Capital, emphasized that changing consumer preferences are driving demand for healthier food choices that do not compromise on taste or convenience.
Riding India’s Wellness and Fitness Boom
The company is entering the market at a time when India’s wellness and fitness ecosystem is witnessing rapid growth. Industry estimates suggest that the country’s gym-going population could increase from approximately 3 million to 12 million consumers, creating greater demand for functional and nutrient-rich food options.
While healthy bowls and superfood-based meals have become mainstream in several international markets, the category remains relatively underdeveloped in India, presenting a significant opportunity for Açaí Theory to establish itself as a category-defining brand in the healthy QSR segment.
With strong investor backing, an asset-light operating model, and growing consumer interest in wellness-focused dining, Açaí Theory is positioning itself to lead the next wave of healthy food innovation in India.
