Luxury home furnishings retailer launches its London flagship in an 18th-century Palladian mansion as part of its continued European expansion.

RH has announced the opening of RH London, The Gallery in Mayfair at the historic Uxbridge House in London on June 27. The launch marks the Corte Madera, Calif.-based luxury retailer’s debut in the UK capital and forms part of its ongoing international expansion strategy.

Located at 7 Burlington Gardens, the new Gallery occupies an 18th-century Palladian mansion positioned opposite the Royal Academy of Arts and between the fashion houses of New Bond Street and the historic tailoring district of Savile Row.

“We believe the openings of RH Paris, Milan and London, arguably the three most immersive and inspiring brand experiences anywhere in the world, will form the foundation necessary to earn the respect and recognition of not only the European and UK customer, but a global one,” noted Gary Friedman, chairman and CEO, in RH’s most recent earnings report. “They communicate a sense of permanence, a brand that has been dedicated to crafting their skills over decades.”

Originally designed in 1721 by Italian-born architect Giacomo Leoni for John Bligh, First Earl of Darnley and Lord Clifton, the property was once part of the Third Earl of Burlington’s estate before being acquired by Charles Douglas, Third Duke of Queensberry, who named it Queensberry House.

The mansion was later expanded by architect John Vary Jr. for the First Marquess of Anglesey and renamed Uxbridge House. The building now extends across five levels and offers more than 5,000 square meters of space.

The ground floor houses the Architecture & Design Library, Treasury Restaurant, Wine Bar, Tea Salon, RH Estates, and the RH Interior Design Studio. The Interior Design Studio is accessed through a separate porticoed entrance on Old Burlington Street and occupies three levels featuring design libraries and private client presentation rooms.

RH Estates continues via Leoni’s original grand staircase, leading through a series of western state rooms that have remained largely unchanged since the late 18th century.

The second level includes the Perch Bar & Restaurant, the World of RH Lounge by Anousa Hempel, and RH Interiors, while the third level is dedicated to RH Outdoor. The lower level showcases RH Modern.

The London opening follows the launch of RH England, The Gallery at the historic Aynho Park in 2023, as well as the retailer’s recent openings in Paris, Milan, Brussels, Madrid, Munich, and Düsseldorf, further expanding RH’s international footprint.
