Emily Siwek, trend futurist and Director of Architectural Design at Sphere Trending, has outlined the key influences expected to shape home interiors in 2026, pointing to a growing focus on wellness, travel-inspired aesthetics, and balanced technology integration.

Recently joining the trend advisory board of Home Accents Today, Siwek brings experience in residential and commercial interior design, offering insights into changing consumer preferences and the evolving home furnishings market.

According to Siwek, social media continues to accelerate the rise of micro trends, but only those rooted in everyday functionality and long-term livability are likely to evolve into lasting design movements.

Beyond traditional home furnishings, she sees broader lifestyle sectors influencing interiors. Premium everyday products, travel experiences, and wellness practices such as home saunas and cold plunges are increasingly inspiring residential spaces, reflecting consumers’ desire to bring hospitality-style experiences into their homes.

Siwek also identified Maison & Objet in Paris as one of the industry’s most important events for tracking global design direction, citing its comprehensive showcase of furniture, home décor, textiles, and accessories.

Looking at consumer behavior, she noted a growing balance between digital innovation and analog living. While artificial intelligence is becoming an important tool for creativity and productivity, homeowners are also embracing tech-free spaces, listening rooms, and environments designed to encourage relaxation and human connection.

She also expressed a preference for timeless interiors over trend-driven aesthetics focused on a single historical era. Instead, she advocates mixing styles from different decades and incorporating vintage pieces with natural patina to create more enduring and personalized spaces.

As consumer lifestyles continue to evolve, Siwek believes homes will increasingly prioritize authenticity, wellness, and long-lasting design over short-lived trends.
