Company targets 30% increase in apparel production through advanced on-demand printing technology
USColorworks has expanded its digital production capabilities by installing Kornit Digital’s Atlas MATRIX and Atlas MAX PLUS systems, strengthening its on-demand apparel manufacturing operations while aiming to increase production capacity by 30%.
The announcement was made by Kornit Digital Ltd., which said the North Carolina-based apparel decoration and fulfillment company is among the first businesses to adopt the newly launched Atlas MATRIX direct-to-garment (DTG) solution.
Boosting On-Demand Manufacturing
The Atlas MATRIX platform enables USColorworks to produce high-quality apparel across cotton, blended fabrics and polyester while simplifying production workflows. The company expects the investment to increase apparel and textile production for on-demand orders by approximately 30%.
The new platform also enables the business to reduce operational complexity, expand revenue opportunities and manufacture products only when ordered, minimizing inventory requirements while supporting direct-to-consumer fulfillment.
Replacing Legacy Production Systems
USColorworks is replacing its existing production systems with Atlas MATRIX to unify the production of custom orders ranging from a single garment to large-volume runs.
The company expects the transition to:
- Accelerate order turnaround times
- Reduce labour costs
- Eliminate pre-treatment processes
- Deliver improved print quality and fabric feel
The investment also allows USColorworks to reduce reliance on its more labour-intensive direct-to-film (DTF) workflow for short-run polyester printing by shifting those jobs to Kornit’s digital production platform.
Supporting Business Growth
According to Rodney McDonald, President of USColorworks, digital production has significantly improved the company’s competitiveness by enabling it to efficiently handle both bulk and on-demand orders through a single production workflow.
He noted that the Atlas MATRIX platform has already generated an immediate increase in retail customer volumes while supporting faster, more consistent production.
Advancing Digital Textile Production
Chris Carson, Vice President of Sales at Kornit North America, said the Atlas MATRIX system was designed to help brands and manufacturers fully embrace digital production for the growing on-demand apparel market.
He added that USColorworks’ investment demonstrates the industry’s shift towards digital manufacturing as a new standard for apparel production by removing traditional production limitations while improving efficiency, quality and scalability.
USColorworks also plans to further expand its Kornit digital infrastructure as part of its strategy to increase automation, improve operational efficiency and shorten delivery times for customers.
