The second day of Bharat Tex 2026 focused on strengthening state-led textile development, attracting investments, and expanding India’s global trade partnerships. Bringing together policymakers, state governments, industry leaders, and international trade experts, the event highlighted initiatives aimed at enhancing India’s competitiveness in the global textile and apparel sector.
Held from July 14–17, 2026, Bharat Tex 2026 continued to showcase India’s textile heritage, manufacturing capabilities, innovation, and export potential while serving as a platform for collaboration across the entire textile value chain.
Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka Showcase Textile Growth
One of the key sessions on Day 2 was the Uttar Pradesh State Session, where the state government highlighted opportunities across textile manufacturing, apparel, handlooms, handicrafts, and related industries.
The session was attended by Shri Rakesh Sachan, Minister for Handloom and Textiles, Government of Uttar Pradesh, and Shri Ravindra Jaiswal, Minister of Stamp and Court Fee and Registration, Government of Uttar Pradesh.
The Government of Karnataka also presented its textile and apparel ecosystem, emphasizing the state’s strong industrial infrastructure and investment opportunities for manufacturers and sourcing companies.
Maharashtra Highlights Technical Textile Potential
The Government of Maharashtra hosted a dedicated session titled “Maharashtra: An Attractive Global Destination for Technical Textiles in India.”
Shri Sanjay Savkare, Minister of Textiles, Government of Maharashtra, outlined the state’s strengths in technical textiles, advanced manufacturing, and technology-driven industrial development. The discussion highlighted Maharashtra’s growing role in producing high-performance textile products for domestic and international markets.
Focus on Global Value Chains and Free Trade Agreements
Global trade remained a major theme throughout the day.
The International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF) and ASSOCHAM organised a session titled “Scaling Through Synergy: Building Local Capability to Power Global Textile Value Chains,” focusing on strengthening India’s manufacturing ecosystem and integrating domestic enterprises into international supply chains.
A separate roundtable by Deloitte, “India’s FTA Moment: Gateway for Textile Value Chains, Market Access and Sourcing Decisions,” examined how India’s Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) could improve export opportunities, strengthen sourcing decisions, and expand market access for Indian textile manufacturers and exporters.
India–UK CETA Discussed as Key Growth Driver
A ministerial discussion titled “India–UK CETA in Action: Shaping the Future of Textile Trade and Investment” explored opportunities arising from the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
Industry experts and policymakers discussed how the agreement could encourage investment, facilitate business partnerships, and strengthen textile trade between India and the United Kingdom.
Fashion, Sustainability and Global Branding
Designers Rahul Mishra and Vaishali Shadangule participated in a discussion titled “Global Ambitions: Redefining Retail Growth Beyond Borders,” focusing on strengthening Brand India in international fashion markets.
The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) also organised a fireside conversation on “Building Global Fashion Enterprises from India: Innovation, Sustainability and Scale,” highlighting opportunities for Indian fashion businesses to expand globally through innovation and sustainable practices.
Hemp Supply Chains and Sustainability
Another important session by Heartland Industries, titled “Beyond China: Building Tariff-Safe, Compliant & Traceable Hemp Supply Chains for Global Markets,” explored the importance of diversified, traceable, and compliant supply chains for global textile exports.
The event also hosted the CITI Textile Sustainability Awards 2026, recognising achievements in seven key sustainability areas:

Looking Ahead
Bharat Tex 2026 announced that Dr. Mohan Yadav, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, would visit the exhibition on Day 3 to interact with exhibitors and review the state’s textile initiatives showcased at the Madhya Pradesh Pavilion.
With focused discussions on state policies, trade agreements, sustainability, and investment, Day 2 reinforced Bharat Tex’s role as a platform connecting governments, manufacturers, exporters, buyers, and international partners while supporting India’s vision of becoming a globally competitive textile manufacturing hub.
