AI-powered collaboration aims to simplify cross-border commerce and support growth across India, GCC and Southeast Asia
Opptra, the AI-native e-commerce distributor founded by Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal, has announced a strategic partnership with Unicommerce to streamline and scale its operations as it expands consumer brands across India, the GCC and Southeast Asia.
The collaboration combines Opptra’s expertise in market expansion with Unicommerce’s AI-driven commerce and fulfillment technology, enabling brands to improve operational efficiency, accelerate market entry, and manage growth more effectively across multiple sales channels.
Building a Unified Commerce Infrastructure
As an AI-native distributor, Opptra manages the complete e-commerce ecosystem for brands, including marketplace operations, pricing, advertising, content management, fulfillment, and customer service. Operating as an Importer of Record across India, the GCC, and Southeast Asia, the company focuses on launching and scaling brands in some of Asia’s fastest-growing consumer markets.
Under the partnership, Opptra will utilize Unicommerce’s flagship Uniware platform to manage orders, inventory, and fulfillment operations across warehouses, stores, and multiple sales channels through a centralized dashboard.
The integrated setup will provide Opptra with a single operational backbone across all regions, combining its commercial decision-making capabilities with Unicommerce’s AI-led commerce and fulfillment infrastructure.
Enabling Seamless Cross-Border Growth
A key advantage of the partnership lies in Unicommerce’s extensive ecosystem of more than 350 integrations covering marketplaces, logistics providers, shopping carts, point-of-sale systems, and accounting platforms across India, the UAE, and Southeast Asia.
These integrations are expected to simplify cross-border commerce by offering brands a plug-and-play approach to expanding internationally. Additional capabilities such as local-language support for labels and invoices, along with UAE taxation support, will further help brands manage regional compliance and operational requirements more efficiently.
Leadership Perspectives
Commenting on the partnership, Ranjit Babu, CEO – Electronics & General Merchandise at Opptra, highlighted the complexity of operating across multiple Asian markets.
“E-commerce in Asia isn’t one problem, it’s several. Fragmented marketplaces, market-by-market compliance, and fulfilment networks that don’t talk to each other. We take all of that on as our brands’ in-market operator, owning the commercial decisions and the execution end to end. Running our operations on Unicommerce’s Uniware gives our teams one connected view of orders, inventory and fulfilment across every market, so we can act on real-time data and scale brands faster and more consistently,” he said.
Kapil Makhija, Managing Director and CEO of Unicommerce, emphasized the growing importance of technology-driven scalability in modern commerce.
“The next phase of e-commerce growth will be driven by brands that can scale seamlessly across channels, partners, and geographies without increasing operational complexity. At Unicommerce, we are building an AI-led commerce infrastructure layer that enables businesses to automate operations, improve decision-making, and scale more efficiently,” he said.
Supporting the Next Wave of E-commerce Growth
The partnership reflects the increasing role of AI and automation in enabling brands to navigate complex multi-market operations while maintaining efficiency and agility.
By integrating Opptra’s growth-focused distribution model with Unicommerce’s commerce technology platform, the collaboration aims to provide consumer brands with a scalable framework for expansion across key Asian markets, helping them capitalize on the growing opportunities in digital commerce and cross-border retail.
