The organisers of the CO2-Based Fuels and Chemicals Conference 2027 have opened the call for abstracts, inviting researchers, industry experts and policymakers to present the latest developments in Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU), Power-to-X technologies and CO2-based fuels, chemicals and materials.
Scheduled to take place on 21–22 April 2027 in Cologne, Germany, the hybrid conference is expected to bring together more than 200 international participants from industry, academia and government to discuss innovations driving the transition towards a circular carbon economy.
The event provides a platform for showcasing technologies that convert captured carbon dioxide into fuels, chemicals, polymers and other value-added products, including alternative proteins. It also offers insights into emerging market trends, policy developments and regulatory frameworks supporting renewable carbon solutions.
Abstract submissions open until November 2026
The organisers have invited submissions covering research, industrial applications and technological innovations in CCU and Power-to-X. The deadline for abstract submissions is 16 November 2026.
Selected presenters will have the opportunity to share their work with decision-makers, technology developers, investors and policymakers while exploring new collaborations and business opportunities.
The conference comes at a time when the European Union’s Net-Zero Industry Act recognises carbon capture and utilisation as a strategic technology. According to the organisers, annual production of CO2-based products has already exceeded 1.5 million tonnes and continues to grow, highlighting the commercial potential of carbon utilisation technologies.
Poster session and innovation award
In addition to technical presentations, the conference will host a dedicated poster pitch session, providing researchers and EU-funded projects with an opportunity to present their latest findings and engage directly with industry experts. Poster submissions will remain open until 4 April 2027.
The event will also feature the Best CO2 Utilisation 2027 Innovation Award, sponsored by Yncoris and jointly organised by nova-Institute and CO2 Value Europe. The award recognises innovative products and technologies advancing carbon capture and utilisation. Applications for the award are open until 1 February 2027.

A dedicated exhibition area will enable companies and organisations to showcase technologies, products and services to an international audience of industry leaders, policymakers and investors.
